So i'm undecieded... I have the rims i wanted for a project. I'm gonna be painting gold (I think). The rims i got have a machined lip. So should i leave that and only paint the spokes? Or gold the whole rim.

I would think not hitting the lip with the gold would be a little tough, paint the whole thing it would look the best if you did.

the less you paint the less you have to worry rock chips and the lip seems to chip easily

My buddy just bought those wheels for his RS, black with a polished lip. They would look good gold with a polished lip, but loose the bling bling trim rings.

Maybe I am wrong (and I haven't seen what it really would look like) but gold with a polished silver rim would look pretty tacky to my mind

What kind of numbnuts paints a black lip on wheels ? Unless you're running whitewall tyres, it's just kind of pointless.

    Yes... but

I agree with this... Less to paint, and less to worry about chipping.

My photochopping skillz are less than par. I couldn't get everything black. If I could do it all over again...which I won't...I'd leave the red outer lip black and only do the red on the inner lips and the RIC writing.;)

Didn't turn out too good. The spokes were too white. It gives you an idea though.

So i'm gonna stick with gold w/ lip.

Now how should i go about doing this. I wanna do it by my self... So all of the Powder coating leg humpers... stay out plz.

I've been looking at RS refinished project. But still have questions. Any one know a good way to prep the wheels?
