Hey guys, it's that time of year again for the open house. We'll be doing it at all 3 stations, I will be at my station (Sta #1). We'll be doing a variety of things, including a squirt house and Fire truck rides for the kids, plus this year I believe we're doing a live fire demonstration as well. We'll have free t shirts (while supplies last). I know we had a couple of members come last year and they enjoyed it. We'll also have the Police doing their open house as well so it'll be an opportunity to look at the new squad cars (we've got 3 new Hemi Chargers) and I think we'll have the West Metro SWAT guys out as well. If you guys are coming and bringing little ones let me know and I'll make sure they get a ride in one of the trucks, and if I'm free I can give some more detailed tours of the various apparatus, and get some pics of the kids in firefighter gear. Hope to see you guys there! Edit: Almost forgot to put in the address GVFD Station 1 7800 Golden Valley Road Golden Valley, MN 55427
Sounds cool. I see those Hemis all the time when getting coffee/bagels in the AM at 55/Winnetka. I asked one of the officer's about his and all he said was "...a car's a car...".:emo:

sorry wasnt trying to hijack.. but thought you would be interested in what trucks they have.. I may have some other pics of the gear they use etc.. He would love to do an exchange type thing over here for a yr if he could
I love seeing trucks from other countries. The European Crash trucks from Rosenbauer are some of the strangest things I've ever seen. Effective as hell though. I never knew Saab/Scania did fire apparatus, but it does make sense. I'd kill to do an exchange tour down under, if my plan goes the way I want to I should have my Paramedic in the next couple of years. Oh yeah, bump for tomorrow night
Brian this looks like alot of fun, I would love to bring my boys to come hangout, but I'll be stuck at work. Post up some pictures afterwards. Thnx
well let me know when you get your qual's.. I will put you in touch with my bro.. he will be here for a month next christmas timeish
Awesome! I start EMT training in September and i'll be done in November. Then I just have to start getting ambulance runs in to start working towards paramedic. I'd love to meet up with him, when he gets here make sure you get him up to Valley and I'll make sure he gets a tour of the station.
