Hi, I'm John, new to the area and would like to know what shops you guys recommend for alignments. Anyone have a fav? What about an exhaust shop? Just need minor bracket mods done to my downpipe, nothing special. Nice forum and thanks for your advice!

For a daily driver alignment go to wrxboy's Meineke in shakopee. Hands down best deal you will ever get.

Exhaust work go to nathan also.

For an agressive alignment go to Jeff Forss (the alignment guy) for sure.

I just had mine done by "Jeff the alignment guy" a week or so ago. Cool guy that works outta his garage I have heard great reviews from some autocrossers about his work. He is also cheap I don't wanna make price quotes for him but yeah its cheap.

Yeah Jeff is a suspension genius. Does top notch work for a very resonable price.

Both are great guys with very generous prices. Can't go wrong with either!

    Next question then....

Do you guys go with factory alignment or custom? If custom, what setup are you running?

What are you trying to achieve with your alignment ? The commuters will give you a different answer to the AutoXers/Drag Racers/Road Racers. And the available ranges of adjustment will greatly depend upon what suspension mods are on the car.

Well, I personally don't have too much for adjustment capability. I have aftermarket camber bolts and thats it.

I drive pretty agressive but haven't made it out to a race of any kind yet. So, I guess I would be looking for an aggressive street setup. Probably something like the road track setup. Mind you, I do commute to work every day, but tires are replaceable. :)

Suspension... tein s springs (yes, I am the devil and actually don't mind them), cusco 22 adj. rear sway on the stiff setting, perrin rear end links.

So where does that get me? Last time I had the guys set the car up with as much front camber they could get, about 1.3 degrees and the back was 0 deg. Fr and rear toe was set to zero and the rest was factory spec.

In which holes ? Please tell us you didn't put 14mm aftermarket ones in the top holes up front.

I think -0.5 to -1deg in the rear is fairly common on a street setup. I'm not a great believer in "camber" wear on tyres. However, "toe" wear can be quite significant, so setting that back to zero for the street is probably a good thing.

To tell you the truth, I don't remember where I put the bolts. Sad, I know.

So that covers the back alignment, what about the front?

you havent seen my last 4 sets of azenis 215's then.

Nice tread on the outside, trashed on the inside. -2.5 to -3.2 degrees of camber easts the insides terribly.

sounds like the aftermarket bolts were put in the back to even out camber and they used the factory eccentric bolts in the front.
try something like 1-1.5 degrees negative camber up front.
1 degree less in back compared to what you have up front (so 0 to -.5)
    0 toe all around.

I'm running -2.5 front -1.5 back. zero toe. Pretty aggressive for DD but I like trying new tires :)

+1 to that. He did up my rig. Great prices and better work.

I'm running -0.8 camber in the front and -1.5 in the rear (not adjustable).

camber can wear especailly when to the extreme like Zaks settings.. but common daily driven settings like up to 1 degree shouldnt wear too much unless your toe is WACKED.. toe is the most important factor in stopping wear.. camber will too but more so when combined wiht bad toe...

I think for daily street driving 1 - 1.3 is good (some factory settings dont get that much especially wagons) rears.. your choice... most dont have anything...

I usually run -1.5 degrees in front, -1.0 in the rear. I like it, and the camber wear isn't bad. I'm also an inch lower than stock.

Sissies! Muhahahaha. For the record, I have not seen any ill effects at 2 or less (no experience between 2 and 3)... I run the RS with about 3.2 up front, but I wouldn't suggest that on the street. You should see where my rear is now, with the 17x8 245s on..... <0.5  Let's just say I had a REAL hard time keeping the rear end behind me at the VF AutoX! Time for drastic measures....

I don't think rain helped your cause much, either.

Drastic ? More drastic than what you did to stuff the 245s under there in the first place ? Curiouser and curiouser.
