Hey guys, I just moved the family to St. Louis Park/Minnetonka and was wondering if anybody knows of a good place where one can get good Italian beef or meatball sandwiches. Any recommendations/places to stay away?
I was spoiled, I grew up in MA. I have yet to find anything that comes close to even the worst place out there. Carbone's ... maybe, but I haven't tried their subs. Where were you going before?
I hadn't found a good place here as of yet. I tried some places near where I used to work downtown and all of them were, well, odd. Not bad, but not what I expect (coming from Chicago).
the best PIZZA I have found here is Rocco's ... and they are small. There are only 2 of them in MN that I know of, one in st paul, and one here in CG. There may be 1 or 2 more. But if you want chicago style pizza ... they would be your best bet. If you want New England style thin-crust greaseball pizza, try Carbone's. Their food is like crack. And you can't stop eating their pizza, it's so thin it won't fill you up.
ive had a very good italian beef sandwich from a place called Pappy's! it was amazing, thats all ive had there though
I was about to tell him about Pappy's (in saint paul, off white bear ave/maryland ave) Pretty decent chicago style food.
I might have to consider that place. Back in Chicago every place does Italian beef and meatball sandwiches. Here, not so much. So now, what about cheap Mexican?
Sweet taste of italy is pretty good for sandwiches. Im not sure of where they are located but I know there is one in crystal. Thats not to far from you.
Sorry I missed 'yer call yesterday....dirtbikin' was in full effect. Has anyone tried Pastrami Jacks before?
+1 to both Carbone's and Rocco's. Both make an awesome pizza. Another awesome pizza joint that I always visit when I'm up in Hibbing is Sammy's -- I guess they have a couple locations on the NW side of town.
The Little oven in East St. Paul. Best prices in the metro with a huge selection. Only negative is they only take cash and check...so its probably run by the mob lol. Also check out Morellies in St. Paul. Best liquor, beer and wine prices in the state. Great deli and other misc italian food selection. They only take cash though and 100% sure they are run by the mob. Nothing wrong with that incase any of them read this....umm, ermm... I love the place!
You are close to Piazza's Italian Restaurant. Fabulous home-made Italian sausage, sandwiches, everything. Give it a shot, it's just east of 169 on Highway 55 in Golden Valley.
