It all depends on where you want to go and who you know. If you want to go to a normal shop (tire plus, discount, dealer, ect...) $50 is a good price. Morries wants $100 to M/B 4 tires when I asked last week, Discount Tire normally wants $60 or so.

If you know the right people and have connections you can get tires M/B for cheaper. It only takes about an hour for a set of 4. In which case a case of beer normally will suffice.

For a alignment, maybe so, but for a M/B that is getting crazy. I was quoted as high as $125 PER TIRE for M/B. Hell, I was just quoted $20 per tire just to remove the tire from the rim. No install, just remove tires.

Some Tires Plus locations can M/B for $12-15 a wheel, not too bad.

I had a set of tires m/b at the firestone down here in apple valley a few months ago and cost me $100. Didn't want to pay the man but I couldn't get access to a tire changer & balancer to do it myself.

I just go to walmart, cheapest that I have ever found. Ya sometimes have to hold there hand to let them know for sure what you want. But I think it cost me about 30 bucks to have 4 tires taken off and 4 other ones M/B

but can you do it yourself? do you have the $4000 machine, the rent, the electricity???? its a business... beauty of capitalism, and free choice.. you can choose not to pay that..

but if you have a $1000 set of rims being mounted with $800 worth of rubber are you gonna run to Walmart cause they charge $10 per tire to mount.. if so then dont complain when the rims are scratched or the tire bead was ripped...

I agree the prices can be somewhat out there.. but tires can be a pain in the ass and lets say a shop charges $100 per hr labor, then why wouldnt it cost $100 if it takes that long to mount and balance 4 tires CORRECTLY...??? just saying...

I remember the time I did Dreams sti tires.. took me over an hour for $10 ea... NEVER HAPPENED again.... it cost me more then that in my time, wheel weights and electricity to run the equipment...

maybe people should ask gear one to buy some equipment then you all can go there and rent it for an hour or 2 to mount your tires...
