    Hey,

I'm somewhat new to the Twin Cities and am coming up on my 60k maintenance. I don't have the means to do the stuff myself so I need to find a good shop. I called Morrie's and they quoted about $900 which seemed a little high to me but then again it's the only data point that I have. Is that a reasonable price? or is there a good shop out there you guys can recommend that would be cheaper?

I appreciate any help that can be offered. Thanks.

$900 does seem pretty high. It's lots of fluid swapping and inspection - but no timing belt or water pump replacements yet - if I recall correctly.

You can become a MNSOC member and get 10% of labor at Morrie's.

Also, there's a guy here trying to get some work going. Check out this thread: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28713

If you get the MNSOC card you can get 20% off parts and 10% off labor, the labor off is only avail at the morries tonka store, PM a mod about getting a card.

as far as i know the Brooklyn park subaru does give the discount but you have to mention mnsubaru to the service writer when they are writing you up. same for the parts, mention mnsubaru and you will get the discount.

Walser Subaru in burnsville is doing the basic 60,000 mile interval service for $399.99. This again is the base price, now if you came in and needed everything replaced like cabin filter, tranny fluid, etc it would be added on to the price. If you have any questions give our service department a call and talk to Mark Stibal he is our service manager and he can answer any questions.

    His direct line is: 952-435-9658

As far as the service at a dealer, find out what the dealer is doing. Every dealer has their own service schedule, and some add other things to it, and some remove things from it.

Depending on what model Subaru you drive, there are some parts that cost a significant amount more than parts on other Subaru's. Spark plugs are a huge difference on models, whether you need standards or platinums, or possibly iridiums....

I got a quote from BP subaru and with all they recomend it was gonna be like $1,450. When she said that I almost crapped. I told her I'll think about it. I have done most of what they recomended at a fraction of their cost. DIY FTW

Your all missing the biggest point. There is no info on what kind of car it is. If it were a N/A Legacy, Impreza, Forester, Outback...whatever... It would get plugs at 30k as well.

    ~Engine Oil & Filter
    ~Transmission Fluid (Auto)
    ~Front Differential Fluid (Auto/Manual)
    ~Rear Differential Fluid
    ~Brake Fluid
    ~Coolant
    ~Air Filter
    ~PCV Valve
    ~Fuel Filter (If Equipped)
    ~Spark Plugs (Every 30k on N/A, 60k on Turbo & 6cyl).
    ~Brake Service
    ~Tire Rotation
    ~Vehicle Inspection
