Im taking a girl out tonight but still have no idea where. I was thinking sushi and she seems down so does anyone know anywhere that has good sushi in the area. I live a block off of randalf on saratoga in st paul so if possible it would be nice if it was close to that. Thanks guys

This is where some Japanese friends took us for dinner one night... http://www.sakurastpaul.com/. It was really good. Stuart.
If you want authentic (or as close to it for the Midwest) go to origami or sakura... That's my jdm opinion... Kikugawa, ichiban, fujiya etc are all pretty americanized or plain wrong... Too much rice, not enough vinegar, poorly crafted, unbalanced rice/fish ratio etc... Sorry, kinda a sushi Nazi
My favorite place is actually Murasaki in Stillwater. They do an excellent job, are really nice, great ambiance and are not as pricey as places downtown. I always recommend them first. http://murasakisushi.com/ Otherwise, Sakura is quite good. Saji-ya wasn't that great last time I went. I wouldn't go there anymore. THey used to be better before they remodeled the place. Service sucked, too. Kikugawa is okay.
Go check out floating world and let me know your thoughts. The place is so freaking sweet. It's this tiny cafe with seating for like 20-30 people max with just this tiny older japenese lady slicin' and dicin' up the fish. It's totally low key and bomb. Origami and Nami used to be my favorite spots until I went to floating world. It's on lake and minnehaha-ish.
Thanks for the tip. Ill take my mom there when she's in town next week hopefully. She's a much harsher critic than me.
I used to work at origami downtown. Make sure you go to that one. Though the one in ridgedale has the same quality, the atmosphere just isn't the same. I'm a huge sushi snob and I won't go anywhere else.
