Bought this PDA for datalogging for my dsm, and requested overnight.

left a message fri night saying politely if she could let me know when it was sent.
I payed much more for it to be ovanighted, have not recieved a message back or anything. My car is untuned and gets roughly 10mpg, so this is direly needed.
    when do I get persistent?

The auction ended 12:30am on Saturday morning. If she got the overnight shipping message on Saturday morning after you won the auction, you'll probably have it tomorrow.

If you pay attention to what you are doing and cover your bases, you NEVER get screwed. In all likelyhood, with overnight, you will likely NOT get any shipping notice because she probably dropped it off today, and figures you'll have it tomorrow. Not all eBay sellers are good with sending out notices. Especially ones that sell alot of stuff on eBay.

DSM guys have been doing this for years. Cheeky bastards can use PDA's for datalogging and tuning, they just use the thing as an active readout.

Wow, you must never send things you care about.

Let me list off the things I've had smashed:

    30gallon acryllic aquarium
    4 generation old family china
    Computer case

Now, on to things that were delivered water logged...

Tippmann A5 paintball gun and accessories (they sent paintballs with it, they were soaked and took me a few hours to clean the mess up.)

    General fail:

Every time I ordered from NewEgg in 2005-06 they sent FedEx, then somewhere in mid 2006 they switched to UPS. Packages that would take 2-3 days began taking 5-7 days. Two packages were lost. I sent a complaint to NewEgg and they gave me some bogus crap about how UPS saves me money. The shipping prices didn't change, the service did. Now they offer FedEx shipping as an option. Back to 2-3 day delivery times.

And it isn't just NewEgg. Everything I ever order that is shipped UPS (in which case I usually don't have a choice) arrives later than the estimated date. Every one.

When they bashed up my aquarium, it had a 4" hole going THROUGH the tank, in one side, out the other. They said because I didn't get insurance that I was screwed. I can understand insurance for things rattling, or a box getting dropped accidently, but this had a HUGE HOLE GOING IN ONE SIDE AND OUT THE OTHER. I shouldn't have to insure against blatant disregard for packages. And the last straw on that one, they agreed to give me free shipping on the package if I bought a new aquarium and needed to ship it to someone. Please, you know I'd NEVER use your service again, so offering me free shipping is about the biggest load of crap you can feed me.

After the first half dozen failures by UPS I actually kept a log of tracking numbers dates and times and errors for both UPS and FedEx. I stopped doing that when I started working for my current company since we use FedEx exclusively and I sent hundreds of boxes a month via FedEx.

In 5 years with my company...

FedEx has never broken a box
FedEx has never dropped a box in water and left it there to become soaked through
FedEx has never delivered a box late without a good reason (weather was the only one)
FedEx has never lost a package

I have sent thousands of parts to Memphis, TN in the past 5 years, I have never once lost one or had one arrive broken or full of water.
Yet in the past 5 years using UPS, All the items I have shipped arrived broken. 50% or more of the things shipped to me arrived late or messed up some how.

    UPS = Fail.

I thought I was the only one getting slow crap from UPS, from newegg.

    UPS sucks, period.

My old work place, we would use FedEx just because UPS would fail on us, many times.

Nope, there is a reason they offer FedEx again. I sent about 3 complaints to them regarding UPS shipping times and neglectful handling. After the 3rd complaint I was about to stop using NewEgg altogether and take my chances with Pricewatch vendors, but I stopped in one day and did a check on some parts and it came up with FedEx 3day Saver as an option. I'll never doubt NewEgg again.

I don't choose Islam either, but I don't hate on Muslims because of their beliefs. But I can see where you are coming from, they don't like type of men that carry purses, so I can see how you'd want to avoid it.

I worked at DHL for 2 and a half years and let me tell you, UPS is #1 in the united states for a reason, they ship on time 99.83% of the time, DHL was 97.45 and Fed Ex was- 88.45
trust me, I was batterred with this info the entire time I woked there, ups has a special conveyer belt system that is designed so a ups employee would only touch the box 2 times per hub ( usually 2 hubs total one from the orig sending location and one from the arrival hub) after that the driver loads the box into the truck and delivers it to your house.
DHL and Fed ex use a "pick up route" so whatever bum the hub chooses to go get your package will throw it in the back and floor it to his next pick, after that the boxes are thrown yes THROWN onto a conveyer that leads to a person scanning boxes where ground express and local are seperated, these are seperated onto PALLETS which means boxes that come down that wont fit on a skid are thrown on the ground and kicked around until they have a spot on the skid, also people often throw heavy **** on the top crushing valuables and whatnot. then the skids are driven as fast as possible to a scale where they are weighed and loaded onto a semi, keep in mind that these skids are often very large and like a jenga block with 20 blocks missing, we figured out one week when we were really bored that 2 out of 5 skids that were weighed tipped over and crashed all over the floor, usually damaging about half the boxes, often the merchandise would come out of the box and be broken further (things like ipods cellphones and alot of LAPTOPS) so in total about 10 people touch your box over a period of about 2 hours, and these people DO NOT car about your package, they all start to look the same and you begin to stop caring after about a week or working in the couriour business.

as for UPS, they as I said use a conveyer system, a semi full of loose freight comes into the hub and they have a few people that seperate ground, express and local, the conveyers take them to a specific semi where they are loaded and gone 1/4 of the time it takes DHL/ Fed ex, it also cuts down the people handling your box to one person that grabs it and brings it DIRECTLY to where it needs to go, rather than put on a skid with a bunch of mixed freight.

also, a selling point for alot of people using UPS is, ground shipping through UPS is 1-4 business days in the lower 48 versus 7-10 through dhl or fed ex......

im really bored at work, just some info for guys out there

Never had problems with UPS, but I don't send/receive hundreds of packages either, just some personal stuff couple of times a month. And last time I was driving to Chicago few weeks ago I saw a jackknifed FedEx truck in the median with packages all over the place, so I bet there are people that hate FedEx now too.
And UPS ground to WI typically gets there in 1 day after shipping...

So, which UPS person in teh chain demolished my aquarium and then didn't say anything about it? And why is it that I never recieve my packages in 1-4 business days? And which ultra careful UPS driver cracked a computer case. Or the one that we paid extra to ship something because they had the fastest courier service and they dropped the box enough times to damage the part inside to the point of being completely unusable and unservicable? I don't know what kool-aid they had you drinking, and maybe I just had crappy luck with UPS for 5 straight years in 3 different locations, but I doubt it. Two of the biggest and most expensive screw ups happened at the UPS Store. So that makes 5 different locations.

Everytime I see a UPS tracking number I grit my teeth knowing that my packages have a very good chance of showing up late, broken or not at all.

When I ran the parts department at a small town chevy dealer, EVERYTHING came damaged, wet, and full of gravel from the Fedex truck. Never had a single problem with the UPS stuff.

I guess its purely location? I really don't know.

jason, they started using this system in the summer of 06 if that makes a difference, also yesterday I recieved headers and an uppipe from cali in 4 days and the box looks un-touched.
there are faults with every company, think of how many boxes all these companies deal with daily, were talking hundreds upon hundreds of thousands, a few get damaged, thats the bottom line.
    perhaps its just luck?
I do remember when ups did indeed suck eggs, but recently they have gotten better.

I know Jason has had some bad luck with UPS, but I have never had a problem UPS or Fed Ex. As for DHL, they could fall off the face of the world, and I could care less. Everything I have received through them as been damaged or late, and for their drivers, biggest J/A's out on the roads.
