Sadly, Jack Adams will be leaving us to become a Marine this Sunday. He has been a loyal and true friend and I could not ask for anything more...we will miss you Jack, and keep you in our thoughts and Prayers...Good luck getting your ass kicked:biggrin:
Good luck and have fun in the Marines, Jack! You're doing your country a duty that less than 1% of the population will do. That means a lot.
Best of luck Jack, here's hoping your stay at MCRD San Diego lasts longer than mine did PM me if you've got any questions, it's going to be an amazing experience for you. Semper Fi bro.
What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Sorry, I keep thinking about Full Metal Jacket after reading that lol.
Have a good time. Be all that you can be.... oops wrong slogan. seriously though, good luck. Hopefully you will be eating chipotle back here in MN before you know it.
Jack! I'm going to miss you buddy. Don't forget the good times and definitly dont take any **** from those damn drill sergeants, sock one in the eye. Have a good time but come back alive, Love ya buddy.
Thanks for all the support guys. I plan on buying a subaru when my service is up, and I'll be back into the club for good. I have all intentions of coming back to MN. I am very anxious at this point to begin the process. Mike, I'm assuming you had some medical stuff come up while at the MCRD? That sucks, but is defnately a concern of mine as well as everyone else. Broken bones, getting sick, upper respiratory infections, shin splints, stress fractures are definately common place, as you well know. I'm hoping my stay there is 13 weeks, no shorter, no longer. Last thing I want is to get stuck in an MRP (medical rehab platoon) for some injury that delays me a month or two. As a buddy of mine said: Boot is the most fun you NEVER want to have again.
Mike? Come on, check the s/n again I tore all the quads in my left leg about 3 weeks into it, then dislocated my shoulder with a crutch a week later in MRP. Funny thing about the military, you see the strangest accidents. You will get an upper respiratory infection, it's something that pretty much everyone gets. It sucks, but you'll get through it. Just keep your head up, do what they tell you to do and work as a team. MRP wasn't fun, but it's better than PCP
Good luck to you. Military service is nothing to sneeze at, these days. When I joined it was a 'you could end up peace-keeping in Bosnia' kind of Army. Now, you're pretty much guaranteed to go see some really pretty desert sunsets. God Bless. EtchyLives CPT, MI US Army
Good luck Jack. you will be in our thoughts and prayers as you serve your country for us. A big thank you and when you get back I will be the first in line to buy you a Big burrito from Chipotle. Keep in touch when you can. A friend of mine who joined the service would email one person as a journal so they could keep them so he would have written memories of his tour. Just an idea.
thats an awesome Idea. For the first 3 months there is no telephones, no internet, etc, only snail mail. For the month to two after that I can have a telephone but no internet, and then after that I think I should have access to both at my occupational school. Then after that its to the fleet and let the good times roll.
Thank you for your service Jack. I know millions of people truly appreciate it! Because of people like you, we all have the freedom to be people like us! Kick some tail and come home safe!
My tenure in the Marines lasted about 4 weeks, I tore all the quads in my left leg and strained all the ligaments in my left knee. After a visit to the corpsman, the base med clinic and then a journey to Balboa Naval Hospital they drained my left knee 4 times and threw a leg brace and a set of crutches on me. Then I dislocated my right shoulder 3 days later with one of the crutches (I found a hole in the road with my crutch) and that was the end of it. This was back in '99, so things were a bit different then. If it had happened now I would likely have been able to stay in. Boot camp is where the most freak accidents I've ever seen happen occur outside of the FD.
