Google never ceases to amaze me. If there stock was 300/share i'd be on this like tim on boyz. No more $1.99 411 charges -- just use Google text messaging for FREE! For those of you who have a cell phone you won't believe this.... Google has launched a 411 text messaging service for FREE. (You will be charged for every sent/received text message if you do not have a text messaging plan on your cell phone.) If you need to get any phone number or address just type a text message of the name and the city in your cell phone and send it to GOOGL (46645). Within seconds you'll have a text message sent back to you with their address and phone number. Need Directions? For example, text Directions From 90210 to 90201 and send it to GOOGL (46645). In seconds get the directions you need to that specific zip code. You can use specific addresses for more accurate directions. Need the Weather? For example, Just type Weather Dallas Texas and send it to GOOGL (46645) and you'll have it in seconds. Enjoy these Great Perks! *Get local business listings when you're on the road and want to find a place to eat. *Obtain driving directions to get from point A to point B without having to ask for directions. *Find movie showtimes and theater locations of movies currently playing near you. *Check weather conditions and 4-day forecasts to plan your day. *Study the latest stock quotes and stay on top of the market. *Get quick answers to straightforward questions. *Compare online product prices with ones you find in retail stores. *Look up dictionary definitions to expand your vocabulary or prove a point. This beats paying those high 411 charges of $1.99 + on your cell phones when you don't have a phone book or internet to easily look up information while on the road. AND you can get so much more information than you can from any regular 411 call. For more information please visit Googles link below http://www.google.com/sms/index.html *make sure you are as specific as you can with the text you send because the more general you are the more text messages you'll receive and the more you'll be charged or will be used up. Also, if you don't have a text messaging plan you are charged for each message sent or received. Check your cell phone plan to determine what kind of text messaging plan you have.
that is crazy, but it sounds just like your accessing the website via SMS. i would rather just go online (either by laptop or by cellphone) and og to google.com and do the search that way. i think my tumb would fall off if i had to type in XX wasington ave minneapolis to XX university ave minneapolis, especailly while driving.
Yep, because when you are drving around town you really want to turn around, head home, visit google, get your directions and head back out on the road.
Holy Crap it works! Sweet! I typed, "weather ashland wisconsin" and got the current conditions and the forecast til thursday! Whoo hooo!!! this is sweet!
or i could just call someone at home and they can google it for me. would be cheaper foro me since i dont have SMS or text messageing availabe to me.
I haven't tried it with my Sprint phone but I don't really need to. The plan I have has the unlimited web and messaging but you get a $10 credit towards subscription apps on the phone so I've got a travel one that'll get me maps and numbers of places (even connect when I hit 'dial' when browsing the yellow pages) and then a flight weather app so I can check METARs, TAFs, outlooks, and a few different radar weather images. May as well use the free credits on those if I can.
I love the Google SMS! I use it all the time for movie showtimes and weather. I even used it for a conversion from ounces to liters once. Google is god. Jk.
That's awesome! Anything is better than 411, the last time I called they didn't know how to spell Chaska, Minnesota or Checker Auto Parts. That's what I get when I talk to a John Smith in India.
yea, i have been using google text for over 6 months now. the new google thing is google maps on your phone, right now i am using it, its pretty cool. it uses satilite images so its pretty accurate.
apparently, i DON'T have much to learn... it's those that have not known about this service that are still the padawans...
