Do any of you guys have the GoPro HD Hero? I was thinking about picking one of these. Like everyone else, I think it'd be fun to just cruise around and time lapse the footage and what not.

Awesome, good to hear. I see it comes with a suction cup? How does that hold up? I also see that you can get different packages of it (Auto, Surf, Helmet, etc.)

Which one do you have? I must get my hands on one! haha

I had the auto but i never trusted the suction cup i was just on their website i think im going to pick up the skeleton case and mount it in the car so i can run it for longer periods of time. but i had one mounted on the outside of my car and it worked great just make sure you dont install the 3m in cold weather or you will loose your camera :p

A lot of people use them for autox. They are great. Only downside is no LCD for playback, but it's still worth it. I will probably get one soon. Suction cup works good on cars. I've never seen one fall off, in warm weather anyway.

I just picked one up, intent for AutoX but have been using it skiing. I am loving it so far. The fully waterproof case cuts out the sound, (working on a solution for that involving gortex...) It is a lot of fun to mess with, looking forward to using it in Utah this year.

we use contourHD cameras in and out of the rally car. I've owned a gopro before - prefer the contour's simple interface over the gopros

I've used the suction cup on the side of the car at up to ~110 mph, held on fine.

i picked up a go-pro hd hero for snowboarding and the occasional auto shot, ive done a bit of filming for snowboarding so far and the picture quality is excellent, ive also taken an auto vid with the flat-mount attached to the inside of my windshield and the picture quality is also great. i do not have the suction cup mount but as stated i wouldnt recommend sticking the flat-mount in cold weather, if done right its solid as a rock! good luck with your purchase decision and research!

I got one and don't regret it one bit. I got the chest mount for skiing. Taking it racing has been fun. Going to Big Sky in a couple days....

A friend of mine had his gopro mounted with the suction cup outside his car, when it fell off and got ran over by a truck. The gopro survived with no more than a tiny nick on the lens that doesn't even show up when recording. He got the thing warrantied and they sent him out a new one and never asked for the nicked one back! So I've been using the nicked gopro all winter and it's by far the sweetest video cam I've ever used. The bubble lens makes it easy to capture a lot in one shot, and the great resolution and high fps can make for some sick pics! I've shot like 36gb of video in the past month or so snowboarding haha.

How is the sound quality of the GoPro?...Do you hear the wind noise if you have the camera mounted outside the car?

When I'm racing (GS on snow, not car), I can hear the snow and all the noises I make just fine. I usually drown them out with music so you can barely hear them. The audio in the sealed box is pretty good. I'm guessing the distance it can pick up is relatively close.

I thought they just came out with a LCD screen attachment?!?

We have one for the snowboard school at afton. It is the best camera I have ever worked with for snowboarding. They are awesome.

yeah, kind of dumb that's just an $80 attachment instead of an entirely new product with it built in. But like I said, I'm still probably going to get one.
