My gf works at 50th and france and yesterday i picked her up from work and we had a bunch of stuff going on so we left her car in the parking ramp until we could get back there.

well, we ended up going back there at 11:30 last night and at the first light after we left the lot I noticed the car behind me with like 4 teenagers in it. I didnt think anything of it then but i just kinda watched them and they kept following me all the way back to my gf's which isn't a simple path that someone could have randomly been going the same way. anyways when we got to my gf apartment I called her and told her i was going to keep going so they didnt follow me in there and either confront me or know where my car was parked. i just kept driving taking a couple more random paths and she got the plates and called it in. They finally stopped folowing me when I snuck in a u-turn on Lake st.

That was the first time this has ever happened to and it definately was an eye opener. has this ever happened to anyone else and what have you done?

yeah... definitely keep an eye out.. thats a tactic they use back in Australia too.. find where the car lives and come back a few days later and steal it...

Oh and i think he was following me cause i had to cut him off to get onto 62 from 169... And he wouldnt let me over at first so i sped up to get in front... then gave him a friendly thank you for being a jerk...

yeah never go back home, a lot of the time they want to know where you park it to steal it or steal parts off of it.

I am an agressive driver.... and sometimes other agressive drivers get upset. I once had a dude with the plate TAGURIT with a mustang follow me after he tried cutting me off when i had the right away and I floored it to make sure i stayed infront. He followed me all the way to the police dept which I called and had someone waiting outsite to talk to.

I have been followed a few times by highschoolers. typicaly because of my car I think... but yeah, a good U turn timed just when traffic is coming breaks the follow quick and easy.

Another time I was followed by a guy in a huge truck that started to swirve into my lane and I honked at him and floored it. He wouldnt stop following till I did a U turn and slowed down to see WTF he was doing and he yelled out Sorry and wanted to know if he hit my car because he had hit a bump and thought he hit my car when he swirved into my lane. Here I thought he was mad I honked my horn. Cant wait to get the hella horn for reasons like that! I once had someone fall asleep in their car and swirve right into the side of the car I was driving and had me hit a sign. hella horn to wake them up!? OH YA!

The best way to find out if you're actually being followed is to drive like hell and see if they make an attempt to follow...

sounds good in theory, minus traffic and cops. I was going pretty quickly and switftly throuht traffic on 100. if it were just me and them on the road there is no way they would be within miles of me within 5 minutes.

That used to happen to my Dad all the time when he left work. He used to work 2nd shift, so he was leaving work around 2am all the time. he always had a car following him with their lights off. So I let him use my cell phone to call 911. he call making it sound all panic and such that he was being followed by a car with no lights. then all of a sudden they turn on their lights and it is a blaine cop. they quit following him after that..... I would just call 911, that their job. Let the other guy follow you till the cops get there. Thats their damn job. No point in breaking any laws just to get away from a potential bad guy.

^Doesnt matter how good you are with a knife, or how big you are. A .45 slug or two to the chest will take you down and they'll have your car. I would NEVER get out of my 3300 lb weapon to threaten a couple of thugs with a small one.

On a side note, props to scaring the sh*t out of them enough for them to leave, that takes juevos.

Next time, just yell, "Run b*tch Run!" and toss your car in reverse (so your backup lights come on). That should give them some second thoughts, in addition to making them think you're crazy.

I am sure that if you were being followed and instead of going home drive to the police station, I bet they dont follow you.

For me, mostly I drive normal until I hit a corner or sharp curve then I'm a few blocks ahead of them.

I want to know the lead in to this story...It's been my experience that you usually don't get followed for no reason at all, in some cases there's an inciting incident. And instead of pulling the knife (which will get you an assault charge, btw) you'd have been better off waiting until they got out of the car and a few steps away and then taking off. That'll buy you a few seconds to get clear and put some distance between you and the people you're trying to get away from. One question though...What would you have done if they'd pulled a gun after you pulled the knife?

I can only think of one time that I was actually followed. I was living in Seattle and I was dating a girl who was an exotic dancer. (True story! We knew each other from the Space Needle and she got laid off and needed to find a way to pay the bills.) Anyhoo, she lived across the street from me and danced at a club less than a mile away, she had been walking home but she had a couple of guys follow her one night so I started picking her up after work. I had borrowed my dad's Corvette one night and we never went directly to her house but usually drove around for a little bit first. I noticed that the same headlights kept following us, even after I'd made 8 random turns. While I'd love to have some elaborate story that involved Seattle SWAT, a high speed chase and me perforating both bad guys at 100 yards with my Kimber, it really just came down to me getting onto I-5 and being able to get lost in the shuffle of cars.

The best advice? Head for the local PD. When I worked at Bloomington I took multiple calls like this, and each time they came to the station the other party either left or was suddenly a lot more civil once the officer was there talking to both of them.

This is really an ironic thread, I live in Maplewood on County Rd. B and occasionally get some punks who walk up my driveway and vandalize my property. Well last week, Friday night I came home from University and found my 928 sitting outside because my brother needed room in the garage so he could install a few things on his new eclipse. So I hesitantly left it out for the night. 3am I hear a bang, jump up from my chair, look out the window and find 3 kids winding up and kicking my car. I jumped down the stairs, run out the front door and take chase after them. I barely caught up to one of them and tackled him face first right into the pavement, totally out of commission. Then his friends decide to turn around and try to fight me. Well unfortunately for them I have been studying martial arts and boxing for 6 years. I fought them while my mom was in the process of calling the police who had already been in the area for calls. When they finally arrived the one kid who I previously tackled was still on the ground face first and the other two took off and were quickly apprehended and arrested. Each of them were under the influence of drugs and will hopefully be charged with 5th degree assault which is a misdemeanor for attempting to inflict bodily harm. The car is fine, not even a scratch to the paint. Unfortunately I did fracture my pointer finger but the vicodin sure took care of that :)
