I've been talking about re-finishing my basement since 2004. I'm pretty bent about my procrastination, but I'm ready to get this ball rolling. If you have experience framing around things (I only need a few walls put up, the rest is all ductwork framing) I'd love some help. Ryan and myself will be doing a little. I'm no expert, but I do know how it works. I know there are others that are far more skilled and can frame up a basement in a matter of hours. Also, if you are an electrician, feel free to lend a hand. I have 16 can lights to wire up, and the existing electrical is a **** story. One of the previous owners simply added recepticles and lights by tapping off whatever was close. I have a roll of romex, and the existing wire that can be reused as necessary, about 20 sockets and switches, and new boxes. So yeah, tomorrow if you are bored and have some experience with this, feel free to stop by, I'll give you beer.
As usual, free time is what I don't have. However, if you wanted to swing by here, I'd be happy to lend you my suitcase compressor and a framing nailgun.
Hmmm, a framing nail gun...I have a rolling 35gal compressor, so I'm good there. I'll see what time allows for grabbing a nail gun from you, otherwise, I may have to invest.
how late are you going to be working jason? i have to work on both my cars and figure out why my sister's honduh is clunking but I could come out afterwards.
I will probably putz along with it all day. If you feel like stopping by, you are more than welcome. I think a good cutoff time would probably be 9pm.
What? I've never heard that. I've put 8 recessed spots on one dimmer before just fine. Where did you hear that?
Yeah, you just can't exceed the rating of the dimmer (typically 600w). Perhaps he meant you can't use more than one dimmer per light? :???:
Well, yeah, you always follow the dimmer's rating for wattage, that's just common electronics sense right there. And yeah, more than one dimmer switch on a circuit isn't good either. I'm an electronics technician.
how'd things go today? i got a very late start today so i didn't finish up my **** in time to make it down
correct like said just follow the ratings on the dimmer switch itself, you can run as many as it allows.
its one dimmer per set of whatever... you shouldnt have 2 DIMMER switches on one circuit.. ie if one dimmer is dimmed the other AINT gonna turn the lights up again
