Got myself a new toy on Ebay...(mountain bike pr0n inside) I've been out of mountain biking for a while, but I've been getting back into it and I've been wanting to get my fiancee into it as well. I've been a fan of GT bicycles for as long as I can remember, the Zaskar being my favorite. I've got a 95 that I just can't bear to get rid of, and I love it as much as the day I got it so I decided to get one for my fiancee. GT went under and was bought out by Pacific Bicycles, so I wanted to get one from the pre-Bankruptcy days. I see them now and then on Ebay and found one that was a great candidate. I'm a good six inches taller than Jess, so I figured she'd need something along the lines of a 15-16in bike. Here's my new baby: All XT/XTR components and the frame is in great shape. Nothing like a handmade 6061 frame to bomb around on. The best part? Less than 460 shipped. Nothing like getting it for 80% off Here's my bike for reference:
nice ride brian, she'll love it. sorry I failed at getting back to you on the components group. call me at erik's thursday night, i can get you a straight answer. 952-934-7993 for EP, i work 6-9 that night
Sweet! I might just stop in if you'll be there. I need to talk to someone about a good set of SPD shoes too.
B has gone totally green! Don't worry we don't like you when your mad. Congrat's. I have read that MN has several very nice bike trails all over the state, some includes camping spots for longer trails. Enjoy the new none-carbon machine, looks awsome.
Gone green? Hell no. I'd run baby seals for fuel if they were worth more horsepower Mountain biking was my bad habit before I got into cars, I've had my bike since I bought it new in 96, probably somewhere in the area of 4k into it after all the upgrades. I'm trying to get back into it to get myself in better shape. I'll be entering EMT school in Sept and I will be looking for full time EMT/Fire jobs after that.
Ah, the classic Zaskar. Back when GT didn't suck monkey testicles. (as you said, GT as it was known no longer exists) Very nice, indeed. Great frame. You may want to rebuild that Judy, though. I'd still take a mid-90's Homegrown in bass-boat blue.
There was one of those that I was thinking about getting as well. I loved the blue/silver Homegrown, I think it was the XT model. The frame wouldn't have fit Jess though.
Brian - you are hereby invited to our regular Theo Wirth group rides that end with Grain Belts and $1 hamburgers at the GV American Legion. GT is back now to some degree with their classic HT designs even in 29in wheels!
Sweet! I might need to get in a little better shape first so I can keep up. I did see you on the local MTB board last night while I was searching for Judy rebuild kits
