I've been waiting for this one ever since I heard about it. I'll be at the Mueller Family Theater in Plymouth (9900 Shelard Pkwy) if anyone wants to meet me for the 9:20 showing. This has been getting great reviews, and with Clint Eastwood both directing and acting you really can't go wrong.
It'd be interesting how much tickets they sell here in the Twin Cities. There are probably going to be a handful of Hmong people who will flood the theater.
ahahha... i've seen it, and it was boring the 1st 30 mins of the movie but other than that, the story line is good.
They keep showing the car in the background... and they never drive it... WTF? Man does Clint hate kids though, its pretty funny. DVD screeners FTW
I thought the movie was very well done. It was very usual seeing Hmong people on the big screen other than the BK commercial, they did a very good illistration. I also found it very funny and enlightening in some parts, some of the info was news to me. And mr. Eastwood played a very good Korean War Veteran, the cranky biggit attitute was by far the best humor. It was especially funny when they tried to coach Thao how to talk in the barber shop. It would be interesting to hear what others thought about the ending, I'll hold mine till after others have seen it. Low buget film, but I thought it was a worth while movie to watch.
Yes I have to admit I saw the bootleg version also but I will see it in the big screen to support the movie. Its a great movie and Hmong people got to remember its Hollywood. If they did everything by the book it would be a boring movie. One of my good friends is one of the gangsters. LOL He is the buff tall guy out of all of the gangsters.
oh just go watch it. Its a good movie people just don't expect too much from it. Its classic Clint Eastwood and is worth watching.
lol, i was just messing around, wanted to see what peter would've said. it's pretty good actually, clint eastwood is the shizz y0! lol whoa peter, i'm nothing, lol...careful, others might begin PMing me threats now
its a very good movie. i saw the bootleg version also, but imma go to support it. Eastwood is a badass mother****er. dirty hairy yo. but yeah, i highly recommend this movie. good story line, good acting. it also shows how some hmong ppl are. i give it 4.5 out of 5 star. would be 5 but kinda boring at the beginning and the ending is so so. bottom line, go see it lol
LOL no he's name is Jerry Yang and he his role was gangster #2. He had one line "And its in mint condition!" haha I always bring it up when I see him. He laughs about it also.
that civic in the trailer = classic STP style... I'll prolly wait for the dvd and download it, it doesnt interest me enough to warrant paying for a ticket.
Saw the 1st show today... Good stuff but the end was pretty predictable. I loved the banter between Walt and the barber.
I finally figured out a movie time to go to when people *AREN'T* Text messaging though the whole damn movie.. 10:20am on sunday morning. LOL. I think we were the only people under 40. I thought it was a wonderful movie. I didn't think the beginning was boring at all. They had to show who the character is and why he acts the way he does. If you're going to this movie for a car or action, go watch F&TF again. Though I would like to see Heath Ledger win for best actor (Not because he died, but holy crap did he make a wonderful joker), I'm sure Clint will be one of the runner ups for an Oscar.
I loved this movie. Flat out, hands down one of the best I've seen in a very long time. Even if he doesn't get the best actor nod, he still deserves best picture or best director props for this one. I hope like hell he's still got a movie or two left in him.
I definitely enjoyed it as well! Reminded me a bit of my Grandpa as sad as it is... but I think a lot of vets who served during that time would seem a bit hard. Loved the differenct interactions Clint's character had with just about everyone, from his own family, to the Hmong neighbors, the barber, and even his interaction with the three black guys messin with Su was fantastic! Definitely worth the watch. Saw it at the Burnsville Mall Atlantis theater with the 70ft widescreen. Damn that's a big screen!
Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Well, he is retiring with a hell of a bang then. I think he's easily one of the better directors of our time, and he's a decent actor to boot. Not many of them around...
