I'm just curious, how many (if any) of you have gone to school for graphic design, and how many are actually employed as such?
I did (graphic design and minor in computer science). I started working in graphic design/multimedia which morphed into web design/programming and now I do pure software engineering.
I'm definitely not the right person to answer that...I've been to DBU (Duluth Business University) and The Art Institute Online, and have been unsatisfied by both. Where did everybody else go?
where didn't I go, lol Century College, Minneapolis College Of Art and Design, and College Of Visual Arts. (I never did finish, for I dropped out to help a friend make a movie, which was a bad Idea.)
Me and the Wife graduated from UW-Stout. I guess the have a pretty good design program, I don't know i was there for beer and an engineering degree which focused around beer.
BSU has a good program. But if you want to go on to a master's degree is art or graphic design, some other schools won't think too highly of this degree since it's in the technology dept, not the art department. http://www.bemidjistate.edu/it/
That is not the best field to run for. My wife went to school for it (few schools), had a hard time finding a job, finally found a job paying 28K a year. Then we had a few kids, now she does websites and graphics from home but still not a money maker.
Sounds about right. (except for the kids part). I'm pretty sure I'll have to move down to the cities to find a job that pays more.
