So i got my greddy type s bov today put it on, and have been trying to get it tuned correctly for a few hours now "drive adjust drive adjust so on and so forth"

Anywho, with any aftermarket valve, will you get the turckey flutter sound? the reason i ask is no matter what i do it happens! even on the softest spring setting.

according to nasioc, that sound is compressor surge, but i will say this, i have heard the noise with my stock bpv.

    Any ideas? anyone?

You want to STIFFEN the spring settings.

From what I've noticed with mine is that when I loosened it I would get less noise and when I tightened it I would get a whooshing sound that didn't flutter as much. Mine is really tight (that sounds bad  ) and I think that's the way it's supposed to be... I guess ;)

interesting...for most bovs...the more you tighten the screw/nipple the stiffer the spring will get because the screw is compressing the spring, therefore, needing more pressure from the car to push to atmospheric.

the more you know..ghey rainbow (

Yeah, I think the issue for noise is the amount of time the spring is open to allow the air out. The higher the pressure the quicker the air has to get out therefor making more noise. The slow longer duration whooosh is from the valve being open for a long period of time and letting the air out slower. At least that's what I always thought of it, but I could be wrong, I've only been in the turbo game for 10 months :) which isn't a long time compared to a bunch of you.

I've got a Greddy Type RS, and it sounds soo stupid... Like a stock 1G DSM BOV vented to the atmosphere. Anyway, I have my BOV really tight because it would open when I made anything above 15+ psi. The whole car would jerk and ****. With the BOV really tight, at WOT it is perfect and doesn't leak. At partial throttle just cruistting the BOV with open and flutter. It sounds retarded. But you gotta deal with that if you want "high boost"

BOV flutter is NOT the same thing as compressor surge. I've been running my 20g/TurboXS for almost a year now; my bov needed more crush washers to pack the thing with than what it came with! 7! I get BOV flutter anytime I'm under 10psi, otherwis it's fine.
