I was thinking about the best way to do this install, and came up with this idea. Both the crank case, and the valve cover breathers route back into the inlet, I would plug both of those. Run the crank case breather directly to the right port on the aos(so there's no T to the pcv valve). Run the valve cover breathers to the left port on the AOS. Then route the center port back to the pcv valve. That way no oil will get into the turbo inlet, and "clean" air will be routed into the intake manifold. Seems like that will keep the functionality of the pcv system, and be the cleanest way to install the AOS. Anyone see any flaws in this logic?
I think I found a flaw, under boost the pcv will close then there is no where to vent the pressure build up.
You really want to open this can of worms my friend? There are multi-hundred-page threads on NASIOC and IWSTI debating the functionality of the stock PCV system and the various AOS implementations Yeah you couldn't run it the way you say, because the head breathers need to flow both directions. What's wrong with hooking it up the way GS set it up for the WRX, with a PCV valve between the crankcase vent and one AOS inlet port, and the head breathers connected to the other AOS inlet port? It's designed for that setup, and is known to work... Don't fix it if it ain't broken!
Maybe he wants to be different, and break the norm. Without slamming his car and stretching his wheels lol.
Wrx has the same pcv setup as mine, so I could set it up like it's intended to be. I'm just trying to eliminate any oil going into my intake tract. I guess I could just put one of those breather filters onto the center port of the aos, but I don't know what that will do to afrs at idle/light cruising (in vacuum)
Yeah, I'll just install it as intended. The catch can I had on all summer was bone dry anyways, it was only hooked up to the breathers on the valve covers though. Deleting the crank case T, with the conventional method, to the inlet will be good enough.
I just installed this same one the other day after watching their video. I like the part where they're like "we supplied 6 feet of hose, here at grimmspeed we have a lot of hose so we like to share". It's not really good for racing conditions but you and I really aren't tracking our cars so I'm not worried. IMO it's the best AOS on the market for a DD and it looks awesome.
I agree..going in Friday..I think @JavaBlack-Beast bailed on buying my catch can..maybe I'll plumb that back in too..lol
Haha yeah I remember doing that video, I tried to slip in little innuendos wherever I could. I miss doing those videos they were fun!
