Just got my new summers mounted this morning and on the drive home I began to lose boost. 2 miles later I had 0 boost and sounded like a B18 with a muffler delete. I got it in the air and put a fan on it. Assuming it was a pre-turbo exhaust leak I checked the EWG and uppipe. The uppipe had split right where the pipe with the wastegate flange is welded to the main. Both the EWG & dump pipe are just dangling there.

Anyone heard of this happening before? I am kind of SOL.

If anybody knows how to get in touch with one of the guys from Grimspeed guys I would be forever grateful. I can't have the car parked in the shop Sunday night and it wouldn't make me very comfortable having a flared STi parked outside overnight.

It toasted the heat wrap too. Lucky it didn't start the car on fire.

Increased heat retention from heat wrapping causes extra strain on the components. Some companies void any sort of warranty if wrapped..

The guys over at Grimmspeed took care of me yesterday morning. Got a new pipe under warranty (even after taking heat wrapping into consideration). The new pipe has been redesigned and is reinforced right where mine split. Got the pipe put in last night and its back up and running. Thanks again @ GrimmSpeed.

    Great to hear!

Matt runs a great show over there, all the folks are stand-up guys.
