if enough people are interested, the shop will setup a few days later this year for anyone interested for winter tire stuff winter tire mount / balance or a simple throw it up on the lift and swap winter rims if you don't want to do it yourself. the more people we can line up the cheaper the cost.
sorry off topic skarecrow but i found all my airbrushes and paint gun.....and all my HOK paints YAY!!!!! back on topic might be interested for the gfs car.
I will need winter tires mounted & balanced. Would do it as part of the group if the location isn't too inconvenient.
he's working on a price for me.. we were talking about it last night and right now it would be like 30 bucks for a mount and balance (staight swap) and 60 bucks for a complete tire swap / mount / balance the more cars I can get involved the cheaper I can get it.
so what if i have rims with tires on them..i need those tires dismounted and then my new tires mounted and balanced see what im getting at? i am trying to figure out if that would fall under the $30 or the $60
Dont mean to thread jack.... I can do this for the peeps in southern Mn as well. Pm if interested. Bump for wicked good deal!!!!
I'm confused. That seems a bit high. The last two season swaps I've taken mine to a garage by my work and they've done the oil and unmounted, remounted, and balanced 4 tires all for around $50 - they practically did the tires for free. (I had a screw through one last time and they actually plugged that for free.) Am I missing something, or is that shop just giving me a really good deal? I mean, given average shop rates (doesn't take an expert to mount & balance tires, I don't think), $60 would mean like a 40 minute job (+/-). Does it really take that long? I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. I'm just actually confused. Is my price expectation a misconception? Or are they somehow better (like good at not scratching aftermarket wheels)?
it's a complete performance shop... and we know you love your rims more then life itself. I needed my winters on last year before I was settled in at the shop. took my ride to a very reputable discount place. I asked them when I brought in the car to please use the plastic clips, and to make sure to take caustion when mounting the tires... I don't want scratched rims. AN HOUR LATER.... they came and brought me in the back to show how they accedently forgot the clips, were not thinking about the rim and started clamping down on the rim before it was secure.... in turn, CRUSHING a chunk of my rim clean off. in turn, they offered to weld a piece back on and repaint it.... I in turn offered them a chance to buy me a new rim. When they were balancing my now messed up rim.... they used the claw of a regular hammer to pound off the weights. I was furious. new rim was shipped this took 2 weeks to get shipped, and on my car. This was all caused because someone didn't take the 1 extra minute to be careful about mounting the tire / rim. so in turn, we offer you the piece of mind that we'll be taking care of your custom rims/tires as if they were our own. The price might be a tick higher.... (im not the one setting it) but you can breathe a bit easier knowing your baby is in good hands.
Thanks. That explains it and likely makes it well worth it for those running aftermarket wheels (not me for winter). Too many horror stories of rims costing hundreds of dollars getting destroyed by these "accidents" when mounting. Since I'm running stockers this winter I'll skip this and go the cheap route, but perhaps if a Group summer tire mount balance / swap day thread pops up next spring I'll chime in then.
so far the best i found was burnsville tire at $15 a corner...anyone know of a cheaper place?? my rims are already beat to hell so i don't care
used to do em for $10 a pc.. maybe again soon.... but I would take the to Skarey pay a little extra for the piece of mind... lets not come into HIS thread and start asking around on cheaper deals.. start another thread
no no, it's ok I just put it out there... and I understand winters are usually the not so awsome of rims this should have been a better idea for summer tires due to the care factor.
