Seriously, i dont like driving in minneapolis/st paul. I got lost in downtown Minneapolis with my best friend on New Years Eve, she said she knew exactly where she was going, well she didnt, and we drove in circles for over an hour.

then last weekend i had to drop a friend off at the minneapolis airport and i took the wrong exit on the way home and ended up in St Paul :( With my detour it took me 2.5 hrs to get back to eau claire.

grrrrr, i guess im just not made for driving in big cites.

ahahah....well I can tell you that if I was in Mpls somewhere in the south or north, I'll get lost as well. That's because I haven't been there. As long as I look for where the sun is and the time, then I know which direction to go i.e. north, south, east, west in search of the highway.

The funny thing is, i did use mapquest to get directions to and from the airport, I forgot the directions at home though. I know the way there, but there is like one exit i missed on teh way home. It sucked :(

You're not the minority when it comes to directions. I drive my girlfriend to my house a few times a week (don't ask why :I), and she still can't give other people proper directions to my house.

Also off topic, if it weren't for me, my girlfriend would literally take 5 minutes to find where the car is parked. [xx(]

I think all of us have had a WTF did I do with the directions event. My only suggestion is to know that you forgot the directions before your 4 hours or more out. I did it and had to drive 1/2 hour just to get cell reception to ask for directions, because I didn't have a phone card. Dam those north lands without phones, or cell reception.

As someone with two degrees in geography, I have no sympathy for you people.

Maps, use 'em, people like you guys are why they make them.

Yeah, and maps dont help if you forget them. I had my eau claire street map with me and my WI map. Surprisingly, that didnt help me much in minneapolis.

Next time you're here, stop by a gas station and grab a mpls/st paul spiral bound map book. Mine gets plenty of use, never been lost before.. and I leave it in the car so I'll never forget it :)

St. Paul is prolly the worst of the 2. How many 5 point intersections are in St. Paul? I never saw a SINGLE ONE untill I moved up here... I think Jesse Venture put it best when he said it was designed by drunken Irish men :D

It helps to roll with a lap top, wifi card and MS Map Point!
