ok i have been playing gran turismo 4 again lately. I have been doing 2player battles against my friend. i have a problem. i cannot for the life of me get my subarus to turn in! and the braking is way sub par.

have any of you had better luck then me? what kind of settings are you running?

I set my cars to turn with a stiffer rear. I prefer the handling of rwd cars. Still, a worse car is the Skyline. That required a lot of tuning to get to turn in. It's a turd stock. Best Jap supercar my butt!

Pole Position FTW. Oh, and e-brake to initiate a drift and accelerate the turn-in. ;)

GT ignores camber curve problems so one of teh most effective methods of shaping up a car's handling is to buy a full customize suspension and drop the car about 90%. Wouldnt work well in real life, works well in GT.

rear swaybar set high will promote rear end coming out under braking, dramatically increase turn in, makes the car unstable at high speeds. If you are playing with TCS on (most do) this is probably the only effective way of making it tur in well. The stock setups for the subarus are way understeery.

Make the rear end about 25% stiffer than the front end helps a lot too. All of this will make the car twitchier and harder to control under speed. It works with the TCS on, try to drive with the TCS off and it will oversteer like crazy and probably drive you nuts setup like that. Differentials make a huge deal too, usually in subarus the 1.5way rear diff is the best choice. Fully
lightening the chassis also does wonders for the handling

Edit: the only thing that really fixes the braking and turning on the non race cars is lightening the car. Lightweight mod #3 is probably the number one thing that affects the way the car actually drives besides the power stuff. the race cars all drive much better than the street cars and the primary reason why is the weight, and the closest you can get say your GC8 STi to handling like the cusco advan impreza is knocking off all the weight.

i always go w/ no driving aids on. i have noticed that when i really crank up the rear sway bar the car over steers way too much to control effectively. i was hoping to find a nice medium where i can drip corners and not drift them.

now when you say make the rear end 25% stiffer are you talking spring rates/struts/rear sway bar on only some of those components.

as for the diff. i have had good luck with the stock diff, i have never tried the 1.5way but the full custom is way too much.

what do you think about the roll cage. it says that i can add understeer to some cars. i havent experimented w/ and w/o cage to see how that effects it.

i gotta figure this out. i am sick of being beaten by civic w/ 50 less HP then me!!!!

I use the Nascar theory when racing cars with a HP advantage: Punt 'em from behind!

Or dive to the inside and use them as a berm to complete the turn...

I never could get my subarus tuned very good. Although I dont really like to spend a lot of time playing with settings. If i dont like how the car drives I just buy a different one.

most of the setups i have seen on there use a 10/90 DCCD setting which isnt very AWD. i want a true subaru, not a RWD boxer.
