I know I said.....anything beyond GT3 is gonna be my car. It doesn't any more real than my car but .... this might just get me back into playing the GT-series. OR I'll just stick to my car and get to smell REAL RUBBER, coolant, oil, and feel all the G-forces.
Wow! can't wait for this one! Not a NASCAR fan, but it's cool that it's on the game, will help it sell - not that the title needs any help. Looks like there's realtime damage on that rally car.
I didn't realize they were pulling in official WRC and NASCAR for this round. I wonder if you'll be allowed to run other car classes in a NASCAR race just to see how they fare against the left-turner crowd. My favorite part was at the end when they showed the Nurburgring is coming back. I can't have a racing game without it anymore. Hopefully with official WRC support they'll utilize some of the gameplay mechanics and codriver skills as WRC or Dirt.
psst... Forza 3. I found it funny that they finally showed off GT PSP again yesterday. They were showing that off before the PSP launched, which was over 4 years ago. I think the game may have even been shown at E3 2004. The GT market share has been rapidly shrinking since they have been unable to add anything outside of prettier graphics since GT3.
Time to start saving for a PS3. I love the Gran Turismo series! I just wish Microsoft could get the rights to sell it for Xbox 360.
Pretty sure that will never happen, but it would be nice. Microsoft pushes Forza, and Sony uses the Gran Turismo series as a console exclusive deal to encourage console sales--see any and all comments regarding "must have PS3 to play this" to see this in action.
Call me crazy but I dont honestly think Forza in any form has really compared to the GT series. GT3 > any Forza game imo....and GT5 from all indications is going to be untouchable.
Yep, and that's about the time the PS3 will actually be affordable and worth buying. But this does look excelllllennte!
K... Crazy! Physics that don't feel like your car is stuck to the track. Physics where other cars aren't makeshift guardrails. Car damage, including parts that hinder vehicle performance depending on what you messed up. A wonderful car classing system that makes modified vehicles easy to match up to each other for fun online racing without having to use the exact same car. I could go on, but for me it's mostly the physics feel. It's terrible and dated in the GT franchise and feels like the car handling hasn't changed since GT2. I've played them all so there's no bias here. I bought a PS2 and the Logitech GT4 wheel for the release of GT4. I've owned every GT out through Prologue.
Wrong the physics are completely different, there is not a shred of code that is the same between (Gt1/Gt2) and (Gt3/Gt4). It is all handled completely different, the cars have a much better grounded feeling. Forza has a more arcady feeling to it, car do not "feel" the same as their real life counter parts and they certainly do not behave the same. GT is the more realistic feeling of them.
So they completely re-coded the virtual guardrail? If {car1 = outside} and {bump car1 = true} MPH = MPH + 15
While that was true for Gt1 and Gt2 it wast vastly removed in 3 and virtually eliminated in 4. What you are talking about is not the actual handling of the vehicle, it's exploiting a bug that is caused by licensing issues.
yeah, we stopped at the sony building, in japan, and played a bunch of new games. the new GT was one of them.
I was a big GT fan until Forza released, then Forza 2 made me silly in my pants. The damage, classing and graphics were great.... and it's on a "next gen" console. GT prologue kinda pissed me off as well. Kinda thin on content for the price. Just release GT5 already!
Actually in the GT5 demo (the one I paid money for) when you bump cars or rails you get penalized (yellow-flagged essentially) for a few seconds which can really hurt your times. I like that idea to punish exploitation of the lack of damage in the physics. It doesn't apply it consistently though, and it punished both the aggressor and the victim but in some cases it's tough to call if someone got cut off. In real racing though you're paying very close attention to competitors and your proximity to them.
I know nothing lol, I just sat around in my office and did nothing, for some crazy reason they were like "hey see that guy right there, lets add his name to the credits of the first 3 gran turismo games for absolutely no reason at all. Oh and while were at it lets add him on the Twisted Metal black credits, we need some filler in the manual" That Russ my friend, that's how it all went down, now the troof is out. OOOhhhhh the shame.
Production, tunning and QA. If you play with a logitech steering wheel I hope you like it because they are my specs LOL do some searching on here I posted some pictures from car modeling photo shoots in Japan for GT3. I still can't find the video of the Vector that died on the dyno for sound recording, no clue where it is now.:dunno:
That's why I loled. Good stuff. Can you possibly shed any light on the release of GT5? Will it happen before the end of the 4th quarter?
I haven't played Forza at all.... but I can tell you that tuning adjustments came out to what they where suppose to do in GT3. LSD settings, toe settings, Spring settings. The tire traction was nicer in GT3 and when I played that GT5 Prolong it was par to tire feel and car feel. The character per adjustment was there in GT3. I didn't care about finishing the game, it was the driving feel that got me. SImulatioN! and again... anything past GT3 is my car. Nothing gets more real than that. Hey Russ, you wanna race again? I have Super Mine's R34 in GT3.... hahahaha
This is my favorite car, just the way it looks and the way it drives was executed perfectly in GT3, it sounded like a beast. It really felt like the car in a virtual world. The castrol Supra in GT2 was also a great execution. My boss is a very good driver he races in the Porsche Cup series, watching him drive in GT3 is like watching him on his driving videos. braking points and apexes are exactly the same, he stays flat on the areas and points the car to set up for turns on the exact same spots. Forza not so much.
Don't forget Blur, if you liked PGR that is. I was playing it quite a bit today, multiplayer is a blast, kinda like mario kart with real cars and damage.
mmmm, ill look into that. I am more of the NFS, grid, dirt, Call of Duty, Tiger woods, NFL type stuff.
Ferrari Challenge for the PS3 is also cool if you like Ferraris (who doesn't?). Though I wasn't impressed with the sound (despite online reviews saying it was awesome) I was very impressed with the physics and the graphics. It uses all real-world tracks that looks great. The only thing I don't like is the "learning" AI. I have been trying to figure out how the AI is able to carry soooooo much speed through one of the corners on Silverstone when I can't, and that's even when following one closely and watching his brake points and line. Is there a Dirt 2? I am looking forward to Blur, it looks pretty cool. NFS: Pro Street was cool but the progression was difficult and having to repair damage took away from the gameplay. And if NFS comes out with any more "rubber band AI" BS like Undercover I am boycotting the series.
LOL I'm glad you like it, we made that last year. Published right here in Eden Prairie, representin the 952
New Dirt 2 trailer here http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/dirt-2-tears-up-the-track-in-latest-trailer/
OK so add Dirt 2 to my list. I did really like the first one so I wonder how the new rally mode on GT5 will compare.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-09-gran-turismo/54450 Is that.... damage?!? Well, kind of. It's definitely someone who can't play GT for the life of them. I hope adding the damage model doesn't delay the game to the PS4.
I saw today that you could get a free download of GT portable for PSP with preorder of GT5 - I might concider doing that.
Whatever happened to the Rallisport Challenge series on the original Xbox? Those were my faves. And old school NFS on the PC, and Super Off-Road on the SNES.
I have no idea what you're talking about Russ... http://www.pcworld.com/article/186804/gran_turismo_5_delayed_indefinitely.html/ lol.
