Also, I'd like to point out that I am glad the GT-R doesn't look like the G35. They are doing exactly what they said they would, they are separating the GT-R from the Skyline model.
GODZILLA is coming! I'm saving up for sure From the news and speculation, either a v6 TT or v8 pushing in the 450+hp... it may wear the Infiniti badge instead and will cost in the $45k+ range... we'll see as more detail comes out. For now, happy thoughts
omg thats sweet, i mean super sweet like when you first ride your bike without training wheels, or when you score with the girl in shool that everyone is nuts about. not easy like a sunday morning, but kind of that same groove, like im sitting here thinkin hell yes MF... you know what i mean?
the tail lights remind me of the chevy cobolt  but it still looks pretty sweet, and looks like quit a few carbon parts!!!!!
Those taillights are distinctly Skyline. Every skyline has had paired round taillamps just like that, or very similar. Since the 70's. My buddy moved back from Japan to California a few years back, he came in at night and on his trip home he saw a Chevy Impala on the road and immediately said, "OMG, THEY FINALLY HAVE THEM HERE!" Only to find out it was a Chevy Impala. Cobalt taillamps remind me of Skyline styling, which I wouldn't doubt, was their goal.
Not feeling the front end, whatsoever. What it turns out to be will be interesting....I suspect that it will not be the supercar of yester-year. Too many issues with that for a volume manufacturer like Nissan. (gas prices, demand, low margin, etc) Hopefully, I am wrong on that aspect!
"In by far the biggest announcement of the show, Nissan (and Renault) boss and automotive wonder boy (see Fumes) Carlos Ghosn himself did the intro (in English). The stage was stacked 15 deep in salivating journalists. Behind Ghosn, like an unobtainable super model under a revealing stretched canvas emblazoned with “GT-R Protoâ€Â, sat the GT-R Proto. (Fans supposedly lined up since 9 AM for the 3:05 press conference). But in a cruel, but effective tease, Ghosn actually devoted 30 seconds of his 15 minute presentation to the GT-R it. “Here it is, comes out globally in 2007, seeya.†No specs, no launch date, no pricing, nada. We still don’t even know if it will be badged as a Nissan or Infiniti when it hits the U.S. We gain this though – the exterior is 85-90% accurate and for the first time in its history, the GT-R will not be a sedan derivative – but a standalone model. (Click here for the scoop on GT-R details that Nissan design chief Shiro Nakamura gave us earlier this year) At least the photos will light up the forums until next year, when the production ready model is expected to be unwrapped. "
I'm having 2nd thoughts on the new GT-R now... from what I've been reading on the net... the car will carry a $70K+ sticker. For that, I'll get something else (ea. Z06 Vette, M3, M5, MB AMG, Porsche etc.). Nissan will have to make this work in the $45-50k range or it'll flop. Have they not learn from the hay days of the early 90's. Remember the Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7 and Nissan's own 300z... They're all sleeping with the fishes right now. Even Honda's own NSX just crook this year and won't be revised for another 2 more years with a V8 engine the next time around. People will not spend that kind of money on a Japanese super car. They'll rather put their money into a German breed instead. I too will hit up an RS4, RS6, MB AMG, BMW M series, Porsche etc... Then again... I don't know nothing
