http://www.startribune.com/10242/story/1494350.html Hell yeah!! EDIT: Here's the article: You've seen those Sonic fast-food commercials, right? Been tempted to try it out? Well, drive to Fort Dodge, Iowa. Or Sioux Falls, S.D. You won't find one in this state. Not this year, anyway. But there are plans for a drive-in to be dishing out burgers, cherry limeades and Tater Tots on St. Paul's East Side. "It's coming," said Jim Erickson, outside counsel for Border Foods, which has the rights to Sonic franchises in Minnesota. The restaurant would be built on the site once occupied by a Taco Bell at 1960 Suburban Av. Several more locations will be opening in the next year, he said. There are more than 3,200 Sonics in the United States and Mexico. The first one opened in Oklahoma in 1953. St. Paul City Council President Kathy Lantry has never been to a Sonic, but she said it seems like everyone knows about the fast-food joint. "The neighborhood is excited about it." It's still early yet -- there will be a public hearing Thursday before the Planning Commission's zoning committee to discuss needed variances. CHRIS HAVENS
I had my first Sonic burger this summer when I picked up my car in MO. Everything made sense after I went. The commericals, the delicious burgers, etc. This coming to MN might be the best thing since sliced bread.
Now all we need are Zackbee's, Waffle House, and Popeye's chicken.(I know there's one in MN but we need more then just one)
I was told about this about 2 months ago, but it was in talks, now it seems official, and if so, YES!!! Cici's pizza is also coming to MN, in Eagan.
When the commercials tripled, I figured this day was inevitable. Had Sonic in Kansas and its :yumyum:. And I used to live next to a Popeye's chicken in Chicago. Jalapeno mashed potatoes are FTMFWx2!!
There commercials drive me crazy mad. $5.99 all you can eat pizza and salad buffet!!! Me and another sales guy was scrambling on the internet to find if we had one here and I was like "awwwwwwwww closest one is in Iowa." I can't wait till they get here also!!
Last year visiting some friends in Madison/Millwaukee we had Popeye's every other day.(great drunk food!) It kicks KFC's A**. When we came back home we went to the one in Minneapolis and was dissapointed. Wasn't the same as in Wi.
Sonic's suck man...lol you guys aren't really missing out on anything...Just pray some day In N out will come to MN.
ummmm..what a good week, also found out a culvers was finally being built somewhat close to my house!
I came from the south so I had good eats Popeyes, Churches Chicken, Bojangles, Waffle House, Sonics, Checkers, list goes on I would love me some Checkers fries right now Cici's pizza is alright pizza, don't expect anything great, but for the price, no one is complaining, all you can eat. They can make custom pizzas for you also while you're there. I had Cici's in both NC & LA, good food when you broke man.
cici's sounds like pizza ranch... also you cant beat Red Robin's steak fries and their Red Robin Gourmet burger.. mmmmmm we just need more of their restaurants in the twin cities..
Finally someone says it. It's not like it's that bad or anything, but I have to say I'm a little suprized over the excitement. It's a pretty mediocre burger joint. In n' Out is a little over rated as well though. Their burgers are good, but their fries are complete crap. If you want every kind of fast food in existance, go to southern california. It's rediculous how many options they have. In n' Out, jack in the crack, el pollo loco, freakin weinershnitzle, waaay too many. Most of them are actually pretty bunk and it's amazing that they can even stay in business. Screw all that crap, flame burger pwns joo!
hmm, well, there are multiple burger joints at our disposal already that are better than sonic. Of course, none of them are drive-ins.
In 'n Out!!!! Absolutely!!!!! Anyone up for cruize night at Sonic? A hugely popular thing in Cali, many a year ago, but I doubt it still is. (think modern A&W....)
OMG this!! Fries in a cup, smothered in goodness. Best fries evar IMO!!:yumyum: Used to eat there all the time! The only place that I've ever seen a passenger side drive thru.
FTMFW. Nothing beats a Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger. Nothing. That's on my top ten list of things I miss about the West Coast. There's also a great burger place called ****'s that's a Seattle chain, as well as Kidd Valley Burgers. Wish we could get those out here... Edit: Just realized that the short spelling of Richard get's ****'d. Sigh.
i agree had jack in the box while in Las Vegas last march, better than just about everything here red robin is a close second.
They need more Hardee's here too. I love me the thickburgers. That, or bring a Gronk's over. 1 lb cheeseburger FTMFW. Dammit, I'm getting hungry.
