Soo i like to keep things mostly stock. Would it be at all worthwile to gut the factory cats on the downpipe?

After gutting id be looking at a pro tune and thats basicly it for power mods.

Also does anyone know if the factory Sti muffler is straight through or chambered?

No, gutting the downpipe is a pain in the butt. You'd be better off buying an aftermarket downpipe with a divorced or bellmouth design. You CAN gut the midpipe cat very easily.

if your cheap and have a lot of time, then yes. gutting the STi turbo back will gain you some pretty good power gains.

But... with even the cheapy bellmouth downpipes going for $100 on ebay, you might as well pick up one of those. and gain nice smooth hp.

it won't last as long as a name brand, but it WILL get you some nice HP while it's intact.

I know the ebay downpipe option is always available. Id prefer to stick with factory pipes ported and gutted for ease of use and appearance.

    thanks
