Calm down before you hurt yourself :D, If it was me, I'd goto the Judge and explain to him or her that it was working the night before. It could've just died the following day when you were out. You have fixed it and you don't believe that you're at fault. They don't make cars with licenese plate lights warning or any lights for that matter.

Just be sincere and apologetic... good luck.

You wouldn't want my personal opinion though... It would have been rated X.

the thing is that his car doesn't have the lights on his license plate...well atleast i think it doesnt' since i didnt see any...if he's gonna do that then he better install some first. Lee was talking about a hearing officer or something. Just go plea your case ti him/her and see what he/she can do for you. If it all goes well like my friend does it. That ticket wont' go into your record. Mines could be the same as lee's but dunno..see what he says..

Yo Vic, is this gonna be on my record, raise my insurance? Lee told me something like talk to the patrol officer at the district pay place and see if they can lower the fee or take it off my record. Can that really be done? I need all your opinion guys, I know you guys got a ticket and somehow got away. Oh Vic, I didn't mean your x-rated opinion :)

I don't know your model car well enough if they do come with a license plate light or not. My WRX has two lights right above the license plate and to be honest... one of them are dead as we speak. If your car doesn't come with it stock, case close.

Tell the judge the cop doesn't know or understand cars well enough and just wanted to stop anyone s/he doesn't like. All s/he got you for was your license plate lights right? Sheesh, don't these $#@!ers have anything better to do then stop you for a license plate lights. That explain why that cop needs to get $#@!

To answer your question about going on your insurance... no it won't go on your insurance. It's not a moving violation. I'd fight it...

Yang, I wouldn't worry if I was you. The rear license plate lights are the last thing you'll be looking at. Be honest with the hearing officer, and they'll slip it under the rug. The main point you'll make is: "I didn't know the light burnt out. It was fine the other day when you checked. It was just unfortunate that an officer got to the bulb before you did." Case closed. Ticket gets literally ripped up by them. :D

Yang, if you chicken out and decided to pay instead, like Vic said, it's not a moving violation. It's only a fix-it ticket (unless the officer wrote you up for something else too  ), so it won't go on your record.

Yia, it will not affect your driving record. It got dismissed so it won't be on your record. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yia, you'll be fine. Even if he made you pay for it... it won't go on your record. It's not a moving violation.
