The X5 kit. Lots of guys locally have it, and the price is absolutely insane. Mine has been running fine for over a year.

It doesn't matter about the bulb size. The are all rebased anyway. 4300 will put out the most light. The higher up you go the more blue or purple you'll get and less light output.

There is some slight modification to the rear housing of hte headlamp, all you need is a drill really. But otherwise, yes, they just plug in. I can help you with it if you want.
They are alot brighter IMO. Some people will tell you they aren't because of the light's Kelvin temp. But honestly, the 8500 may not be the brightest HID on the market, but they are brighter than whatever OEM lightbulbs you are using. They really illuminate road signs well.

8000k is about 2500lm of light output compared to the 3200lm of the 4300k. Stock 55w bulbs put out around 1300lm IIRC.

I just put the x5 kit in my 02 wrx and it rocks. I was riding with someone with stock lights, I told him to turn his brights on because I could not see, and he said they were, so that maybe gives you an idea of how bright they are. I did not need to do any drilling either on mine.
