I have never owned a turbo charged vehicle so i dont know if this is normal or not. I have a 05 Sti and in the morning anything under 40 degrees the car starts hard, like maybe 3-4 seconds of cranking it. It only has 21000 miles on it. to compare my wifes car has 115000 miles on it and starts immedietly. Is this normal

i know physics, but like i said my wifes car has same weight oil and starts easier and has original battery at 115000 miles. I was wondering if compression or the turbo charger has anything to do with it. And 36 degrees isnt that cold, what happens when it 5 degrees. Is it a common thing out there

turbo cars have lower compression (8:1 on wrxs) so it should be easier to crank then a NA car. my guess is the battery. does it crank slowly or it just doesnt catch right away? I personally have never had my car not start for me, be it -30 or 110. sometimes it takes alittle longer, but its reliable.

mine is a slow crank when it is cold but still starts, it cranks over the same number of times cold or hot (air temp not engine heat)

    How about a suggestion???

Change your oil and make sure you put in 5w-30 (or maybe 0w-30) synthetic oil into your crankcase. Come back if this doesn't resolve the long start-up.

Subaru stock batteries are crap, I went through 3 of them before they stopped warranty on it. Replaced it and never had a problem again. My guess is battery.

mine does the same and my battery is crappy. If it hits anywhere below 0, my car won't crank at all.....and it needs a jump start...still got the OEM battery.

Or you could do it yourself and save yourself $$ if you don't mind working in the cold.
