Funds have been tight, but I may still attempt to make it. Hello, my name is B, and I am a rallyholic.
Dang I will be out in Montana over that weekend. I will have to make it to the next one I guess. It will give me some time to figure out if I want to shoot pics or try my hand at driving.
is 15 hours of driving worth 6-10 min of rally rally rally? I'll think about it, maybe if I skip class on Monday to drive home.
I will be entering this as my first event, ill probably get stopmed but I'm sure it will be a blast anyway!
It sure will be a blast! I'll make sure to include 5-6 back to back pin-turns just for you  Actually, I'm hoping my course design will flow pretty smoothly with a couple tricky technical spots.
RALLY RALLY RALlY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY!!!
I'll throw in a decreasing radius right hand sweeper into a 90 degree left into another 90 degree left into a small straight that goes to a right hand pin turn that ends in 3 left hand donuts around the ginger and finishes with a short straight through the finish... Wait... lemme MSPaint that...
Ha well whatever the course is I probably won't be the fastest but it will still be exciting for my standards. Quick noob question, apparently I need an FRS radio? What is this for and where do I get one? Thanks
google search frs radio, you'll come up with a ton of hits. It's basically a walkie talkie. MNSOC has some you can rent for the day if you don't want to spend $20+ on a set of your own. They should be at the event.
My car is pending a new master cylinder and power steering pump.... probably going to be running with no PS.
I should be there to shoot pics. Are we meeting at Wal Mart and cruising down together again? Are there going to be 3 other threads about this event I have to dig through to find that out?
looking less likely I will be there with a running car..but fingers crossed but i should be there either way.
QUESTION for competitors Would you prefer 2 shorter courses or 1 long course? I've designed 2 courses already, but can link them together if people prefer 90+ second runs over 40 second runs.
link them, push for 6+ runs, i would be satisfied with a 90 or more course. 1st half technical 2nd half fast-ish like what you were thinking about sounds sweet
I would prefer a longer course, long refering to time, not distance. Slow, technical and around 90 seconds would be nice. And yes, I am planning to be there and run my wrx, but I only have one set of tires for this car so I'm gonna take it easy, learn the new car and try not to debead a tire like before.
Sooooo, you'll drive through the creek rather than take the optional jump over it? jk, no jumps, nothing tricky, just a few big linked dori-dori sweepers, a 270 degree pin turn, and a "carry-speed" section for the low-power cars. I'll have a back-up plan in case it's muddy out...
you might want to head down there and scope out the land conditions before you spend too much time designing a course(s). I wasted a bunch of time doing this to find out upon arrival that our options were real limited....
Remember that the start and the finish lines MUST be near each other (something like 150 feet, but Mark can tell you the number for sure). And we need to determine the wind direction for which end of the field Timing is set up at, as the equipment doesn't like a lot of dust, and neither does the timing and scoring crew. Carrie
In sheen we trust to make a great course! But if we want to get like 6 runs in that means everyone needs to be there with there tires changed and car ready to go by 9 not get there 15 mins before and start changing
I like the idea of 2 courses. I find my concentration starting to wander towards the end of long course. It would be getting something closer to what stage rally is also. You don't run the same course over and over again. You have to adapt to the new set of turns on the second course kind of like the difference of going from stage to stage. Plus, from a course degredation standpoint, we would spend less time fixing the course (reconfiguring and such) from ruts and berms forming. Just my 0.02 cents worth.
agreed! but what am i saying im most likely not running :emo::emo::emo::emo: can I cry now seriously I will be super depressed if I cant run..
I'm with you guys on this. Longer course is much more fun. Keeps the adrenaline flowing longer .
yeah we really need to look for additional venues for next year. cannon falls is great, but I'd love to see more options and longer courses for the event masters to choose from
