HEy guys just got a quick question. I was wondering if anybody knew how much weight i can pull behind the 97 Legacy L wagon. I'm looking to pull a 2 place snowmobile trailor and my sled. it would at tops weigh 900lbs. but i don't think it is that much. Also i noticed the place to put the reciever hitch is kinda small. Wondering where i could pick one up i need it for this weekend. THanks guys

should be able to tow 2000lbs...for sure 1500lbs again that the suggested load, but I've seen them do a whole lot more *at your own risk*

    check your brakes too...;)

Yeah, I think the limit is 2000 lbs with a max tongue weight of 200 lbs. Although I think you can get either a class 1 or class 2 hitch for the legacy, but I'm not sure if having a class 2 hitch allows more tongue weight for your car.

Do you already have a hitch and just need the receiver? I know you can get the receivers at lots of places, walmart, menards, etc... It's going to be a 1 1/4" receiver that you need. The hitch itself is probably harder to track down locally, maybe uhaul or the dealer would have it.

I've towed well over 1000lbs with my car pretty easily on a class 1 hitch. Just leave plenty of room for slowing down.

Sweet ok so im not worried about the weight anymore. I just need to track down the hitch and a ball for it. So it needs to be a 1 1/4 inch hitch??? You guys are think like an autozone, or pepboys or a place like that should have one?

Yep, 1 1/4" receiver, they're very easy to find. The ball size depends on your trailer.

Do you have the trailer wiring harness in your car already? If not you can pick up a 5 to 4 wire converter at the same time and use that to wire up the harness.
