Putting a 15" sub with a 2000W AMP into my car, and I need an aftermarket Head Unit that would work with this. Not knowledgeable with these things, but if it has most modern features, I'll go for it. I just wanted to ask you guys before I buy new.

As long as the head unit has preamp RCA outputs, you can hook up your amp and sub and blow your doors off! Essentially all aftermarket head units have at least one set of preamp RCA outputs that allow you to connect an external amp and sub.

As far as other head unit features, there are a host of other features. One other feature that is helpful if you are using a sub, is a crossover high pass filter for the internal door speakers. It allows you to cut out the bass going to the tiny interior speakers and lets the sub handle the low frequencies.

Crutchfield has a ton of good information if you feel so inclined to do some research on your own ;)

Okay, thank you. My question though, I tried researching all last night, but I couldn't find anything for my specific car... Right now, all I have is the AMP, Subwoofer, and the Head unit coming in. Is there anything else I would need to buy in order to have a successful installation?

Who is doing the install? You or whoever is doing the install will need all of the wiring (power, ground, remote, RCA cable). You can actually buy a wiring kit that has everything you need. They range from $30 to $50 or more. The smaller the gauge of the wire, the larger the and more capacity the wire has.

You will also need the right wiring harness to connect your aftermarket head unit to your car (the wiring harness is vehicle specific). The car wiring harness splices to the wiring harness for the head unit - that way you do not need to splice the wiring harness from the head unit to your car. Crutchfield and various other sources online sell them - search for your car specifically.

Thanks for the information, I was going to do the install, as I watched a video, and it just looks like a weekend of semi-easy work.

Yep, it's really not too bad. I've done it on a few cars now. The hardest part is pulling interior panels and running the wires.

My last recommendation, I would solder the wiring harness that connects to the car to the wiring harness for the head unit, as opposed to twisting them together and electrical taping them. The other option is to use heat shrink tubes.

I have a Kenwood head unit for sale. It was new a couple years ago and I bet it would intrigue you. PM if you're interested in some pictures.

Forgot to ask a mod to close this, as I already got a JVC HU from Best Buy.
