I have a set of headers for my 99 legacy, they are Brullen headers and Cat. I also have a Brullen cat back system already installed. Since i purchased the headers after having purchased the catback system, when the headers are installed i will need a shop to do some type of step between the two which are different diameters. due to this it was recommended i have a shop help me with this.

DOES anyone know a good shop on the East side that will install the headers and can do some muffler work to connect to my cat back.

    thanks

East side? Dave's muffler is a place I call home for inexpensive custom exhaust work. He'll weld for you and will reweld it if you get an exhaust leak years from the day he work on it. He's on Payne Ave just south of Maryland on the west side of the street. Sorry, I don't have his number right now.

I called dave's, and they said we don't do any header work... blah blah

as for the stockers, i would be willing to let them go if we can work something out. i also have the stock cat back if that could help.

I am willing to pay to get this done, i have been siting on the headers for over a year now, and i want them on. I can also help install them. I do not think it should be that hard to install. i do not have an impact wrench, and i think that will be needed to get the rusty bolts off. i already have the gaskets for the headers, and a couple extra bolts.. i think all that should be needed is an air wrench, some donut gaskets and someone who can put the transition in between the cat and the cat back system

maybe you should inform mr.kongzilla too because he tried to drift around a semi on the freeway with the AE86 and he ran over someone's muffler laying on the road, pop his FR tire and messed up his header....

so which bolts are rusted?? not the engine ones I hope...
I am sure it is something we can get done...
I would need to look at it though... so if you can hang for a couple of weeks the install night would be great time to do it

I picked up the parts on NASIOC.com I bought the catback 4 years ago as apart of a group buy(i could not afford the header back system at that time.) then last spring one of the guys who had the headers totaled his car, so he parted it out, and i now have the headers.

as for cost, brullen is not cheap... full stainless, i think new the entire system was 1100.

wow missed this on my calendar... i have a pretty big conflict for install night... so i will not be able to make it  but...

I STILL Need to install the header and get someone to mate it up to the catback. It should not be that hard, i have no idea why muffler shops will not touch headers... its undo the bolts, drop out the old, put in the gaskets and the new headers, then do some custom exhaust work to mat them up... i would do it myself except i do not have an air wrench to take the bolts apart, and i can not do the muffler work to put them together...

anyone have any ideas now

you pretty much answered your own ?... cause if it was that easy muffler shops wouldnt have to do it or they would jump all over it.. but usually when ya take of oe headers / manifolds the bolts are either rusted (older vehilces obviously) and ya cant gaurantee what you will encounter.. so you tell a customer it is flat rate $80 / hr and if it takes 2 hrs just to oxy the rusted / broken bolts out then ya add $160 on top of the time to install... ya getting the picture... besides you dont need an air wrench.. a normal one will do just takes a little more time... thats what I used while installing my home made DP...

So then when this happens the customer leaves pissed off cause they just spent $500 getting their headers installed to find that the surface doesnt seat properly cause there is some slight warpage / un-eveness on the heads... so now the new gaskets blow out cause they dont tighten correctly etc etc... then they b^%ch to all how they got ripped off and spread lies about their experience.. not worth the headache to the business

Again now you see why I said you answered your own ?... thats why most shops hesitate to do this sort of thing...

So swing by my store sometime let me see the condition of the vehicle... if it is good maybe like I said we could work out a deal with me helping you do it if ya give me the old manifold... will it fit a 93 legacy wagon?? if so we can work out a sweet deal cause a customer of mine needs one badly... stock manifold...

if it dont fit then we can maybe just work out something after hours (I am the owner) and tinker with it... email me if this sounds like something you would be interested in...
