For an STi, do aftermarket headers really make much of a diofference in performance? I've heard that sometime the powerband can change, but is it really worth it?
sti headers I believe the factory manifold does a really good job and that a performance gain via headers would be minimal...but depends heavily on your current level of mods. You may want to contact cobb about headers. I don't think that AP has a map that includes headers. My .02
I personally wouldn’t upgrade them until your making some serious power. You may feel a slight gain on a somewhat stock STi/WRX but its no where worth the $ IMO.
Downpipe is doing good. No boost creep, which was something I was keeping an eye out for. I'm going to have the CEL fix done this weekend. The exhaust volume is slightly louder, which is fine with me. I'm working on stiffer bushings now and other suspension mods.
As soon as my dp went in and the cobb went to stg 2 my boost creep went away. I'm using the stg2 LWG which I may switch to the regular stg 2 to see if it still stays away from the creeping(lwg may be detuned I'm suspecting). If you go with headers let me know, I'd love to see if it helps your setup as we are running pretty similar. If you don't have the ap yet try laying it all the way down in 5th or 6th until you get to full boost at any speed and hold it there...thats where mine hit the creep.
Must I always have to save the day??? (sorry that the pics are so big) http://www.s3mag.com/Overall2.jpg http://www.s3mag.com/Boost2.jpg http://www.s3mag.com/Overall4.jpg http://www.s3mag.com/Boost4.jpg These are dynographs made by the independant magazine of S3. These were done on WRXs in stages 2 & 4. This means that the stock TD04 turbo was used. On an STi, I assume the 2.5L motor will produce even more dramatic results.
That is pretty significant, thanks for the pics kickin. I'll probably get some headers, but won't be serious about until I do alot more research and get the cash together.
