Anyone have any experience with headlight armor on hid's. I have it on my fog lights but will it screw with the light on the hid's or will it help keep the heat in the headlight and wreck them?

I thought HID's created less heat but with less energy, dont quote me on that one

I've seen a Legacy GT with the really thick film that was blistering in the area of the light output. Also, I've had a bad experience with the fogs blistering with clear bra on them. I assume they were halogen, though.

In addition, the regular clear bra film makes an excellent choice for headlights. It can still take some pretty nasty abuse! The thick film is overkill and really hard to install. If you are looking for more protection than the 8mil can provide, it will likely break the headlight altogether.

Just a heads up on Headlight clear bra... I have heard from two sources ( installer and police officer) That ANY Plastic on the headlights is Illegal

I've had it on my LGT for 6 plus years with no issues. Removed it from the Outback after 9 years...headlights were like brand new. Didn't put more on though. It makes more sense on glass lensed lights that are prone to breaking (fogs) than on the plastic lensed headlights.

I am not one to profess all knowledge on traffic law, but I am pretty sure they didn't want any form of light reduction(tint). If you wanted to get picky about it, a slight film of automotive wax would fit the bill for a broken law, or a film of dirt in the winter.. When you can't even tell there is something there, I think it passes the sniff test....

Or furthermore, when the lights get pitted up and begin to change color on their own, that's illegal. With the clear bra on my headlights(for 9 years now) they still look as clear as the day the car rolled off the lot. That would make an officer proud!
