I'm looking for a nice unit to replace my stock '06.
Needs to have speakerphone and the ability to mirror my Galaxy S7. It would be nice to be able to hook up a back up camera.
I'm not brand sensitive at all - good thing since I don't want to spend too much either.
I plan on installing it myself as well.

Are you familiar with the pros and cons re: MirrorLink vs Android Auto?

Nope - just starting out on this
I do know that if it requires an MHL connection, that my phone doesn't have that.

Newer hardware seems to be heading the android auto route, so you can probably find better deals on mirrorlink enabled units. That said, android auto will likely be easier to grow with.

Here's a quick and mostly still accurate rundown of the differences: https://blog.noser.com/android-auto-vs-apple-carplay-vs-mirrorlink/

looks like the s7 is mirrorlink1.1 compatible. (Long) List of 1.1 compatible headunits can be searched here:

Short list of Android Auto heaunits:

Edit: re: backup camera... pretty much every modern screen will have that as a standard feature.

According to Cruchfeild the 4100 is both android auto and apple carplay compatible. The 4100 does have mirror link where the 4200 does not. Other then that not finding alot of differences in specs between the two.
