Because my grandmother is in the hospital I have to back out on the healey hillclimb this weekend (saturday) at afton alps. Out of the kindness of their hearts the healey club has offered to refund me $0.00, so I need to find someone willing to take my spot. They only allow a limited amount of non classic cars each year and I have one of those spots. If anyone is interested it is a great event, lots of fast driving. Last year me and legacyPGT were very close to winning, placing 4th and 2nd respectively and it is definitely the kind of event that favors a big torque car. Let me know if you are intersted and I can get things signed over. The cost is $40 for all day, i believe it also includes lunch. Its not too far from the cities and a great day out, too bad whoever runs the finances is heartless.
Why wasn't this ever posted here? I guess I need to start lurking mnautox to find out when any events are going to take place.
this could be you: (me from last year) In the future i'll add more of these events to our calendar, but historically its just a few people from the club who go to these types of things so never knew there was much interest.
Please do, Zak. I would venture to guess that low subaru club involvement isn't from lack of interest, but rather a lack of knowing that certain non-subaru-specific events are even taking place. I've been wanting to do this event for a couple of years now, but always ended up hearing about it after it's too late. I guess the same can be said for many other events.
well here's your chance. pretty sure the registrations for non classics might be full. There are all sorts of cool cars there, my wife brought her old mini, there was a porsche le mans 60's style car, a renault alpine le mans car, a mark 1 elise with a type r engine in it, and a sweet ass audi rally car that I was happy to have beaten.
You shut your mouth negative nancy. I might acually do this, sounds like fun, cheap and its right by my house. So kiss my azz little man.
just telling it how it is. dont get me wrong, i'm be happy to actually see you grow some balls and actually compete lol
I posted this here two years ago and it seemed like there wasn't much interest: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7950 It was a blast. I got about 9 runs in. Most were later in the day after people started to thin out. Very well run and fun people. Plus you can give rides. Think I came in 3rd or 4th. Zak, I might take your spot. Just have to get a green light from my wife.
Dang- I was ready to grab this from you. I might show up for a while just to watch. I'll have to do this next year.
You won't have to worry about getting a spot to watch. There is plenty of room. Just at the end of the short course and the begining of the hill is a good spot. The best spot is my passenger seat!
I will be there with the Mustang. Hoping to see a good turn out of Suby folks, whether they are competing or not.
I just sent him an email. I'd love to go but I do have to work at 5 in duluth. I'm hoping I could just do a lot of runs in the morning. wat time is everything normally done?
There aren't any motorsports events that work this way. Otherwise everyone would want to get all of their runs first then leave.
Better hang on biches. You can watch at top or bottom. Most watch at the bottom. Not much to see at the top. You can time runs if you bring a watch at the top becuase you can hear them start the cars over a radio down at the bottom. Otherwise you can't really tell times until the end of the day when they hand out your slips.
well I just found out at least i'll be able to go to the autox on sunday in rosemount. My grandma is just hanging out int he hospital waiting on her grandkids to come, she seems fine.
damn this would be a long drive from duluth to do all in one day. plus drive while I'm there. plus deliver pizza when I'm back
Thanks for the ride! A big thank you to Josh and Mark for letting me tag along for a ride on Saturday. It was a blast!
The funniest thing was when Kim got out, she told Matt "It was a Shafer ride". There were a few comments about just how sideways we were at 70+ mph at the radar trap. They don't know me very well do they?
That was a highlight for me this weekend. Her face was so funny when she got out of the car! I have to get some videos hosted then I will get them up here. Thanks to Mark and Josh for taking her up the hill!
You bet. Thanks Matt and Kim for coming down. I had a good time. The runs go by so fast. I'll post some pics up soon.
