Ok, I've tried doing my research but i'm coming up empty handed. Is there a way I can add the heating elements to my stock seats? I have a '05 wrx wagon.

    Sorry for the noob questions.

you can either buy a aftermarket kit or buy all the oe subaru stuff.

It requires removing the seat cover either partially or completely to install the heating element and then wiring it up. The gf mom payed for putting in an aftermarket kit on the drivers side of her forester. I think the total was like $250 for the one side and would have been 450 or so for both sides. It would have been $300 or so to buy the oem cushion and back heater elements and switch.

not sure but I think this was the one they installed, I can check if you like when she gets home.

It works well, but my OEM heaters keep a much more regular temp. Hers get blistering hot on high then you have to flip it to low for a nice consistent heat.

What's leather have to do with it? It's a heat source and it's directly beneath your body... much more effective then blown heat.

I installed a set in my wife's car. Her Nissan uses velcro and hooks to keep the covers on. I think at least the 02/03 Subarus use old fashioned hog rings and rods, which means you need replacement rings and ideally special pliers to install them. Other than that, it's not too tough to do.

$200 installed sounds like a steal. I've seen more like $500 installed.

Next time I install a set I'm going to install a switch to turn off the bottom panel and let the heater run in just the back part. I've actually run my wife's in the summer when my lower back was hurting (along with the A/C to keep cool).
