not all of them would perform poorly, but a bunch of them would. as stated, there would be a handful of those I'd love to have.
You right, there are some cars there that I would love to own just as they are, then there are some that are awefull....
SICK!!! Sorry, but i love that style, brings me back to my vw days!! Really cool opening song too, well done vid i think! (p.s. cant wait for coilovers and 18x9.5's for next summer!!!)
I agree, there's doing it right, and doing it the way everyone else does. Most of those cars are very wrong, some of them look seriously great. Two thing though: 1) Super awesome interviews halfway through. "What's up?" "Uhhhhhh, Idunno!" 2) I didn't realize braces and retainers were cool again. Half the people there are rigged with gear.
ok, this just makes me want to draw up a bunch of graf for my bumper. i was temped to do it on my last car. i might have to get out the paint pens and start mocking up some color for the WRX.
I think my fave is the Scion xB with "rolled" fenders... and the other one with the "body kit." I think that's actually cardboard! But yes, some of the cars look REALLY nice that way. I'm a huge fan of slammed M3's meself.
Sick cars. The track on that video is sick too. I've been listening to Zion I for a while. Love AmpLive.
I liked the video but I have a hard time with anything hella. Maybe I'm getting old but most those car look gross to me. To each their own though I'm not gonna worry too much about it.
Stretched tires will always look terrible. How so mamy people came to think it looks good continues to baffle me.
+eleventybillionorsomesuch. This still looks stupid to me. Stretched tires is exactly how you do "Hellaflush" wrong. Your wheel/tire setup isn't flush if the tires are stretched back into the wheel wells. Also, when your wheels poke outside of the profile of your car, you're again not flush.
I'm not gonna lie, my 240sx was overly hella flush for a few months while I was waiting for wheels to come over from japan. and then it was still hella flush man i loved that car
I feel the same way as most of you guys do, a lot of these cars are sweet looking but there are some that are just plain hideous
this is probably the greatest car video i have ever seen. so simple and smooth. the first half that is.... How on earth is that engine bay so clean?
At least one person agrees with me. Stretched tires are ugly, stupid, and just plain idiotic. There is not one single good reason to do it. It doesn't even look good. I have yet to are a real race car with stretched tires. Its because they're not morons.
haha, everything is "tucked" in that bay. Though I wouldn't drive my car around town like that I like the look and style of hella flush.
I never wanted to have scratches on my rims thats why i kept it on the down low and didn't do hella flush back then...
I've heard this is true as well. Supposedly it helps provide a smoother transition from traction to slide (or static friction to kinetic friction if you want to be technical) and vis versa.
Some of that stuff is a little far out (a.k.a. the banana toaster), but I like the aggressive stance and wheels of a lot of the cars at that show. Not so much the super stretched tires and rim lips riding the fenders..eh
My car is "hella flush" and i think it looks cleaner then it ever did before. i am not slammed to the ground as my exhaust issues at the moment wont let me go any lower, but when i switch some things around, i will probably set it up lower on coils then it is now. i went as wide as i could for traction purposes and not having to run drag radials all the time. Carl, i am pretty sure your old 240 is up here in Duluth now iirc.
that song is addicting. so its in my library now. sweet video, and great editing, too. i loved the "hellafail" sticker held on by scotch tape lol
That's understandable. Messing with the contact patch is a proven way to alter the breakaway characteristics of a tire. I remember reading about the Bozz Speed Evo 6 that ran a .5" narrower wheel in the rear to give a smoother breakaway for the rear tires. I was merely saying that for normal cars where people try to improve grip and handling. Drift cars obviously operate under a completely different set of rules.
i like to run a little bit if stretch.... just so the tire stays tighter on the rim. 235/40/17 RT615 on 8". i'll be running the same size on a 9" later
