Here's what I've done so far.

Here's where I drilled the holes for the brackets.

I used a wood block behind the metal to make sure I didn't accidentally drill through anything like radiator or hood release cable.

The brackets that come with the horns are not easily bendable. Either make some custom brackets from some flat stock or stack a lot of washers to space them back far enough.

    Here's both of them mounted.

    And behind the grill.

I haven't done any wiring yet besides just finding a place to mount the relay. I'll work on the wiring tomorrow.

Ok, here's a pic of the finished wiring. I left the low tone from my old Fiamm horns hooked up to the stock relay.

This is basically what I'm going to do for the wiring... I just need to go pick up a few things like a fuse holder and some larger ring terminals for connecting to the battery.

Wow Joel! Those are looking good. Let us know how you do on the wiring. We should probably figure out what all we are going to need for the install night and pick everything up before Friday! Lmk if I can help out with anything.

The relay is included in the box. The rest is going to be stuff like bolts for mounting, 14ga wire, heat shrink tubing, connectors, maybe metal for brackets, fuse, fuse holder, etc etc. I'll try to come up with a good list.

I just looked through the box for the first time. it should take me maybe 15 mins to do the actual wiring with all the parts

this is what I think is needed off the top of my head:
    inline fuse holder
    solder
    soldering iron
shrink tube (probably electrical tape as well)
    female disconnects
wire (not sure what gauge I'm going to use maybe 12 or 14?)
    wire stripper/cutter

I finished the install today. I didn't take any more pictures, it just looks the same but with wires.

They do kinda work with the stock relay, but they are much louder with the hella relay.

I bought a cheap db meter at wallymart. A 1/2 second blast measured 110db at about 6 feet away. I haven't compared with stock horns yet, but my brother's two wiener dogs barking full-blast were 100db at 6 feet away. So, supertones are better than two weiners under your hood.

So, here's a list of what I used.

    Materials

about 10 feet of 14ga awg wire. depends where you mount the relay, you may need more. My relay is closer to the horns, so I used less wire. buy 20 ft and go from there. (menards)
    about 8 female disconnects (menards)
1 male disconnect (I didn't need this because of where I mounted my relay.)
3 or 4 ring terminals, 1 for power, 1 to ground relay, 1 or 2 to ground horns. (menards)
1 ATC 12ga fuse holder (walmart)
1 15 or 20 amp ATC fuse, instructions say 16, 15 works fine on my car, I've seen other people using 20 (walmart)
misc sizes of heat shink tubing. (menards)
    solder (menards)
    flux (menards)
cable shield for the power supply cable. (optional) (menards)
5 or 6 zip ties. (menards)
small amount of electrical tape (menards)
    2 3/8ths x 1 1/2 bolts + washers, lock washers and nuts (menards)
1 1/4-20 bolt, star washer, nut to mount relay, (optional, otherwise mount relay to fuse box)
optional, aluminum flat stock for custom brackets (menards)

    Tools

    diagonal cutter
    wire stripper/crimper
    solder gun
mint butane torch or heat gun really helps with the heat shrink
drill + drill bit (to match bolt size)
    misc wrenches for bolts
misc tools for removing grill if required
optional for making custom brackets, vice + drill press

But yeah, they're loud, very loud, I won't be testing them inside my garage anymore, it made my ears ring....

looks good. Did it take alot of spacers to make sure that the horn wont hit the grille? I used about 3/4" of washers to hold the horn far enough back.

Well, I used some fiamm horn brackets I already had, which were offset by about 1/4" already. Otherwise I just used an extra nut and lock washer on the inside to space it back the rest of the distance. Then I put a bead of silicon on the inside of the grill where the horns might touch, so they wouldn't rattle against the grill.

Aaahh I just used the little mounting tabs that the horns came with. I used a bolt which fit through the tab and the pre-existing hole in the upper support so i didnt have to drill any holes. horns dont rub either. for the group install it may save time to just use the smaller bolts, and not drill.

I wnder if there was a noticeable difference with these w/ or w/o the relay? I installed mine w/o the relay and am curious.

It looks like there's no need to drill on 02+, which is what most people will have at the install night.

I hooked up the hellas at firestone to test them and just used the stock relay, they sound much louder now that I have them on the hella relay. I did pick up a cheap dB meter, if you want to compare yours vs mine and see if it's a measurable difference.

Then of course, my first day driving to work with these horns today, and everyone was on their best behavior... No chance to give them a real-world test.... I'm sure it'll happen soon enough.

Yes. 04-07 WRX/STi are all the same with just a different process for the grill removal.

I installed them on my 06 so if you have any specific questions let me know.

Also, I found a little more user friendly wiring diagram for those still working on it.

Wish we would've seen that IWSTI part breakdown before the group install date, oh well.

I'll be doing this install this week sometime. Idget, how do four sound? Haha, hope you didn't test in a garage...

Got mine re-mounted and wired up
    [IMG]

Wiring is the same, but mounting locations for relay are a bit different. If anyone needs a hand, let me know... I have about 450 feet of 14ga wire left:laugh:

The problem Friday night was that I was 2 connectors short (needed one more 12ga female disconnect to go to the hella relay and one more male diconnect to go to the stock wires)

I tried using Nathan's bracket but it doesn't quite line up... not his fault, it was a quick fab like you said. I have a temp solution now but need to make a bracket soon beofre it rattles itself loose

I'll probably lengthen the fuse wires by an inch or 2 and use that lower air pump bracket bolt...

hahaha...there were two girls standing in the driveway on my way out last night, they were doing the fist pump like you would do to get an 18 wheeler to honk. I hit it twice, they covered their ears and screamed. Don't think they were expecting the hellas! As we drove up past them they were laughing because they both jumped so high.

finished mine on friday though I'll need to pull everything out and protect the connections but it's still done none the less. I left mine in parallel to the low tone of my old ones an use the high tones trigger to fire my new relay to the new horns. interestingly if i just tap my horn the hellas never get a signal so i actually have a polite or wicked horn depending on what i need.

Bumping this thread for the new group of people getting their hellas tomorrow.

My hellas probably helped me avoid an accident this morning too, an inattentive driver went through a stop sign and didn't see me coming. The horns definitely get some attention...

Mine are wired the same way but I don't see how there's any delay enough to fire the stock horns first. It's most likely the Hellas he hears and it's so short it sounds more quiet.

It's really easy to leave one stock horn hooked up. There's two horns stock (at least there are on the 02/03s, I think the 06/07 are the same) so just remove one and use that wire to signal the hella relay and the leave the other horn installed. The one stock horn will still be powered by the stock relay and the hellas are powered by the hella relay. I did that on josh's and nathan's cars.

My car only had one horn stock, so to leave a horn on the stock relay I had to split the wire to go to both the stock horn and the hella relay. That's pretty easy to do too.

edit.... oh, I don't know about the delay... that's not supposed to happen. You _can_ buy relays with a delay built in, but they're kinda spendy.
