    Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking in the background of the forums for a while, but now that I've picked up my new Legacy, I thought I would come out of the shadows.

Been looking for a well-maintained, low-mileage, stick-shift, 08-09 legacy GT for several months, and I finally found one. Even found it in black-on-black, which was a big plus. Picked it up with 35,070. Absolutely loving it so far.

I used to have an 07 Legacy 2.5i that I was thrilled to have in the MN winter, and after this winter, I decided I wanted back to the Subaru world.

Looking forward to being on the board.

Pics aren't the greatest because I haven't had the chance to wash and wax her from the last rainfall.

Very nice. Welcome back. Turbo banjo bolts removed?

Edit: read the 40+ page thread on the lgt forums, and it seems there is no ultimate consensus on whether to remove it? But, it seems like a good idea to check the filter nonetheless? I'm only at 35k so I don't expect anything to be too clogged but I'll probably try to check the bolt filter at the next oil change.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Follow-up question for some of you that have removed it: do the dealers give you any issues about doing this?

Seeing as the powertrain warranty is still in effect for 2 more years, it seems like it might be a safer bet to leave it in.

    Thanks

I'm leaving it in until it's out of warranty for that reason. It's one thing to defend a TBE, but removing parts of the turbo is a little tricky to explain should the worst happen.

I can't say for sure, but I thought I read somewhere they actually removed the screens at some dealerships. You may just want to call your dealership and ask.

Nice car! Looks exactly like ours minus the fisher price flappy paddles. Same "wood" trim too.

We're leaving the screens in but shortening our oil change intervals (2500 miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first) and I'm sending out oil samples for analysis once a year. Once the warranty is up I plan to upgrade the turbo, but until then we're just staying on top of the maintenance for reasons Surly mentioned.

Thanks for the quick responses! I can see that you guys are a helpful community.

Based on the local responses, I am thinking that I will leave the filters alone until the warranty period expires (seems like the vast majority of people with less than 70k on the lgt forum all found them very clean anyway). I don't want to make any changes that will give Subaru a reason to complain.

Taking the car into Walser on Fri. to have the 30k service completed. After that I'll be doing my own oil changes and will be sure to follow a 2.5k interval.

Now I just need to get a turbo Porsche, and we can be garage twins.

Finally got around to washing and waxing the cars yesterday. Took a few pics of them side by side.

I hate to say it, but I'd rather have the Michael Jackson than the Paul McCartney of this duo.

Fair enough, but have you ever driven a 3000gt or Stealth twin turbo? There are definitely things I like more about the Legacy, but all-wheel-steering and all-wheel drive combined are a nice feeling on on-ramps.
