    Good morning everyone,

I've known about this forum for a while, but since I'm joining the Subaru world I figured I'd introduce myself. I currently drive a 2012 VW GTI. It's been a fun and solid car for me (except for the lovely water pump issues, thank you warranty for saving my bank account) but I'm ready for a change.

My uncle currently drives a 2012 WRX hatch, and my co-worker just bought a '16 Black WRX. Thanks to them, I decided to place an order for a '16 CWP WRX Prem, which will hopefully arrive end of November/Early December.

None of the local dealerships were very flexible on the price, so after some research on NASIOC I got an amazing deal through an out of state dealership well within driving distance. I'm not sure of any forum specific rules about it, but if anyone is curios about which dealership and how much I paid for it just ask as I have no problems posting.

I'm at work at the moment but I'll try to post some pictures of my GTI, and once I receive my WRX I'll post up then too. Hope to see everyone around!

Haha thanks! I'm guessing new guys sit in the front until deemed worthy? And sweet, I have to help a neighbor with moving furniture for new carpet tomorrow but I will have to try and make it sometime this month! I'll be the guy who wanders in and makes awkward eye contact with groups of people until one group eventually waves me over.

Thank you! Stuck at work but I'll at the very least get some photos up of my stock GTI for now lol. I already have quite a list going for the WRX I don't even have yet. Gonna be an expensive one... Thankfully the lady is fully supportive of my tinkering!

I got a quote from January @ Heuberger which was fantastic, but the logistics just couldn't quite work for me flying to CO and driving back. I didn't reach out to Clint @ Ramsay either, I actually spoke to Sandy Cuttone @ Grand Subaru in Illinois. It's about a 6 hour drive one way so the drive is a lot more manageable than CO, and she matched Heuberger's price. I got the car at what I assume was invoice or maybe even below. It was $2k under what White Bear Subaru quoted me even through the Costco auto program, and I'm very happy with the price. PM me if you'd like to know what I got it for!

Sent you a message; looked around and January gave me the best offer so far, but it is quite a drive + ETA arrival was November which would be a big issue if snowfall arrives early this year.

Welcome!! There are a few of us in the Circle Pines/Lino Lakes/Blaine/Forest Lake/Ham Lake area. And if you want to try to meet a couple of us Ive been trying to get a Friday meet going a well. Itll either be at the park and ride across from Blainebrook or at the Wendys/Home Depot parking lots in the village. There is a thread about it but its not as popular as the Tuesday meets

Thank you! I actually live like < 5 minutes from the park and ride off 95th and less than 10 from the Village. I'd easily be able to make those meets, heck I remember Mnsportcompacts used to meet there too I think back in the day.

Heck, just out of high school we used to meet in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Flake during the week. I may have met some of you at one point or another, but that was 8-9 years ago haha. What time do you guys meet on Fridays?

It hasnt picked up any steam but id aay around 7. We can meet there and either go across the street to blainebrook or if we do the wendys/home depot theres a lot if different places we could go. So where do you guys want to meet? The park and ride across from blainebrook or the wendys/home depot parking lot in the village? Either one is fine with me

I would personally plan to make arrangements to have winters thrown on the car when picking it up, never know what you might drive through between here and there. That's just me though, but after reading stories of people picking up their cars in winter and boom. Friend of mine did it back on the East coast, he lives in VA and picked up a car in NY, had his winter rims shipped to the dealer and bought winter tires from them. Had the mounting thrown in as part of the deal..

Welcome and thanks for sharing. I pretty much had the same experience with local dealers for ordering my 16 WRX two weeks ago. No solid good price around. I ended up ordering through Walser. I wouldn't call it a solid deal but it was at least not far from invoice, not like some other dealers giving me $250 below MSRP and telling me I would be happy if I buy from them - thank you, but NO. I also considered Heuberger Motors in CO and a dealer in Seattle. If I had heard about Grand Subaru in Chicago earlier, I may have gone through them.

Now I just wish the wait won't be too long and I'm in the process looking at winter wheel/tire package too.

That's what I'm currently looking into. What I'm hoping is that if I buy winters through Grand, they'll mount them on the stock rims for me when the car comes in and I'll drive or ship the summers home. I need to talk to the sales rep though and see what she can do for me.

Of course, and thanks for the warm welcome guys! My buddy just bought his '16 from Walser a few weeks ago and was pretty satisfied, but I agree that no solid price could be found anywhere. Plus I didn't have the best experience at Morrie's BP either so it made me pretty averse with wanting to do business there.

So far I have no complaints other than the waiting game as well haha. Did you get a VON and an ETA yet on your vehicle? I got the VON (vehicle order number) but no idea what to do with it. I'm resisting the urge to pester Grand about when I can expect my car. What color/options did you go with on yours? Feel free to PM me instead if you'd like!

That sounds totally doable, there should be no reason for them not to do that for you. I personally size down to 17s for the winter to allow for snow clearance otherwise as soon as you hoon that empty parking lot after a fresh snowfall (and believe me you will) you will have terrible steering shudders until you can get that snow off. Some folk even go down as low to 16" rims for that authentic rally look . Just trying to give friendly advice, your solution would be the easiest

Yes, I did get a VON the day I put order. ETA is last week of December - the sales person joked it's a Christmas gift. I just hope I can get it before Christmas. I heard some people get theirs before the original ETA. I was told a month or so after the order is put, SOA/Subaru may give an updated estimate. Will need to check with the dealer or email/call SOA to find out. The sales person also mentioned Subaru factory in Japan normally has a shutdown/break in the fall which may add some time - not sure how long though.

I ordered a WR blue premium with a few added options including STI short throw shifter and upgraded speakers. Was debating on color and saw a few WR blue at the dealer (STI and cars in for service) and they looked great. I'd be happy with black too. My 09 was black and I happened to test drive a black one again this time - it looked awesome and super cool IMO. I was also told within two weeks from putting the order, it's OK to change/add options.

For winter tire package, I'm thinking to get wheels somewhere and then get tires from Discount Tire Store in Columbia Heights. This way I can go back to get free balance/rotation down the road. The guys there are very friendly and I'd recommend them if you are not too far from it. I'll then just bring the package to the dealer when I pick up the car and they should be able to install them for me.

@Ryan FailRad if you want to/could head up the meet at either the park and ride on 95th or across from Blainebrook or the wendys/home depot parking lot this week that would be cool. Ive got stuff going on but might be able to meet up at one of those spots after and I could try to head it up after and see how it goes that would be cool. Or if any of the other guys close want to head this up let me know. Ill also post it in the weekly Friday meet thread later today
