How are you guys? My name Is Anthony and I am in Forest Lake. Recently picked up a 2006 Impreza 2.5i and this is my first Subaru.
I am actually a Toyota enthusiast as well but couldn't pass up the superior Awd I keep hearing about so here I am. Unfortunately I have it on a loan and I don't think I can modify it under these circumstances, as much as I would love to.

Either way I would love to get to know this community and get to know my Subie well.

    Thanks again,
    Anthony

Welcome, Anthony. Pics of the Yotas?

Nice choice of cars (minus the stupidru). My first "real" car was a 87 supra and my good buddy had an 85. We used to swap cars all the time. Currently daily driving a 00 4runner.

I didn't do it on purpose.... If I had my way and the money the supra would be matte black and the cruiser would be dark green. The subie us stay in red and black though.

Welcome. You can definitely modify a car with a loan on it. Though in the case, being a Subaru, I wouldn't recommend it. I like your Landcruiser an unhealthy amount.

Thanks I do too for the most part. It doesn't run very well or have heat, tried backflushing heater core, but does get through everything I put in front of it. I need to bebuild the engine one of these days.
As for the Subaru I'm just going to pay off the loan faster instead of modifying it for now.

Welcome to the forum! The 2.5i wagon is a great first subaru...just enough power to have fun, plenty of power through the snow, and you will love it enough to make you overlook the issues lol.

And nice Toyotas as well. My family was a 'yota family growing up...my parents used to have two of the old Celica GT's, like old RWD Celica's. I wish they didn't sell them!

Ya those would have been nice to keep , I'm planning on restoring the supra. What kind of issues do you speak of ? The only issue I have is it's not Dohc.

The most common is headgasket failure on Subaru 2.5 NA motors...from late 90's, all the way to 07, sometimes even 07+ models. DOHC or SOHC...both fail. But they usually hold on until about 100k or so.

Not really much besides proper maintenance. Do you have the maintenance records for yours? I honestly wouldn't worry about it, just monitor the situation.

Also, you are 2k away from timing belt service mileage. Hopefully it has already been done, if not, keep that on the radar.

Fantastic news, is it hard to do the belt? I know I read in some other threads that there us a lot of other things I should also take care of when I do. I also have to replacce both front axles as both inner boots are flinging grease everywhere including on the exhaust, nasty smell.

The interval is 105k iirc. It's relatively easy and there is a lot of write-ups. You'll also want to replace the idler pulleys, tensioner(s), water pump, wp gasket and cam/crank seals (if they are leaking).

You can pull the timing cover and check if the belt was done. It would be obvious
