Just wanna know what people are sportin' for helmets, seems a few of us ride motorcycles, snowmobiles, and do rally/autox. So lets see those brain buckets
Just bought it Monday. Now we need to keep getting snow so it was worth it. View attachment 7832 View attachment 7833
I jst bought a hjc cl-sp in flat black with some white squiggly designs and a heated shield. My whole sled is matt black so it matches. and if anyone needs a helmet I can get hjc helmets for basicly cost.
shields are usually 109.00, but I got it for somewhere around 65.00. you just take the old shield off and replace it with the new one. you have to run a cord from your sled to the helmet
My newest helmet, might go take pics of my back up mx helmet and snowmobile helmet, but dunno I'm feeling lazy.
I also have a heated shield on my sled helmet but when I sold my ZR 440 I didn't take the cable off, oh wells.
Arai Quantum F Noriuki Haga Replica - Owned since about '99. I couldn't find a picture of the sidewinder missle on the back. It has a few scratches from my head hitting the pavement on two occasions. Giro G10 Andy Finch Signature Series - just ordered, haven't even seen it yet
Speaking of helmet, can anybody tell me what is the requirement DOT/Shell ## I need for auto crossing? Well my motorcycle be enough?
needs to be snell 2000 or higher, and starting in 2010 it will need to be snell 2005 or higher. You can look inside the helmet under the liner, that is where there would be a snell certification sticker if the helmet has one. If it doesn't the insurance does not allow the helmet. Any new helmet you can buy now is going to be snell 2005. I have a 2000 so I am waiting until the last minute to replace mine so i can get a snell 2010 that will last longer.
Well, you do need to check to make sure. Last year when I was helmet shopping it seemed there were a LOT of helmets for sale that were not snell rated at all, only DOT rated. So double check to make sure it has the snell certification sticker. Also, last year there were still a lot of Snell 2000 helmets for sale and only a few Snell 2005. I was looking at Bob's cycle supply and at Dennis Kirk. Hopefully this year there are more options for 2005 helmets.
Thanks for the info, guys!! I am really digging this, do you think this is Snell 2000 or higher  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Sell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget
You can check on this site and see if it's listed. http://www.smf.org/cert.html But, I kinda doubt that helmet is...
Pyrotect Here is my newest SA2005 lid. It came with a Avcomm intercom installed. Now I just need a rally car to plug it in to! My friend and I got a great deal on them on EBay becasue all they had were size smalls.
Wow, my helmet must be very old, because it reads "Snell M95" Does that mean I can't use that Auto X?
It depends who you run with. Speaking for MAC (and I think the other Met Council Clubs hereabouts) you'd need a Snell SA2000/2005 or M2000/2005. The cheapest AutoX helmet to be had locally is an HJC one at Bob's Cycle. I think they run about $65-$70 depending on size/colour. It's an open face M2005. Stuart.
