OK, I adimit I am completely clueless about anything that has to do with rims and wheel, of course I do know the differece between, 17s and 18s:D, but when it comes to shopping for rims, I don't know what to look for unless it has the option to search by car, and model...So teach me what do I need to know, I know there is somthing like offsets of somthing...but again I am completely clueless, I really want to know what is right for my car(1993 Impreza L 4D FWD), I have a friend who is selling a 17s Velox rims, I tried them on and they looked ok, but after what 'rskm1' said that the rims that came with his car are not the right offset or somthing, I relized that there is a difference:I....All the help will be appricated....thanks.:D:)

I tend to think "visually", myself, so a picture is worth 2000 words to me.

Here's a website with a couple good pictures illustrating what all the different wheel and tires measurements mean. For fitment, these are the two most relevant:

    http://www.tireguides.com/tip10.html (tires)
    http://www.tireguides.com/tip18.html (wheels)

For an RS/GC8, the stock wheels are 16x7", ET53 offset, 5x100mm bolt circle. The stock tires are 205/55R16.

Here are some Suby-specific links, for applicable wheels:
    http://wac.addr.com/auto/obs/wheels.html (mostly dead links)
    http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/rims/rims.html (PICTURES!!)

And, like everyone says, if you're not going to lower it, or corner hard, and you're not worried about optimal handling (e.g. not an autocrosser), you can fudge the numbers a lot more and still get away with it. i.e. it COULD rub, but "doesn't".

If you want some yea/nay votes, post the specs (molded into the back of the spokes, usually). "Velox" appears to be a brand name, so I can't really guess what wheels you're talking about to look it up myself.

Thanks alot rob, that was very helpful, and I found out that the velox were 17X7.5, so I am sure they are not the right choice for my car, If I need the right ones just to lower my car then I will get the right ones, because I am going to go as low as possible;)...
