1month old HP labtop, Windows Vista. All updates updated.

Few days ago my computer prompted me to update JAVASCRIPT, after that I CANNOT watch anything online including youtube, imeem, gamesites,.... It keep saying I need latest version of Adobe Flash player or Enable JAVASCRIPT. I reinstall Adobe Flash player and JAVASCRIPT and nothing. It still throws me the message. JAVASCRIPT is enabled and is the latest version(both java and adobe flash player).

The thing is, i went to Adobe.com and download/install Adobe Flash Player. It saids downloaded & installeded successfully BUT when I check in my computer's add/remove program its NOT there. But the latest JavaScript DOES show in add/remove programs.

HP Support is not fully available b/c they are doing stuff to their system so they can't help at the moment. Any thing else I can do/check?

I'm not a computer geek so try to simplify stuff for me. thanks in advance.

Or don't use Vista. :) Why do people think Microsoft openly allows their OS to be downgraded to XP?

You must mean Java not Javascript. Try uninstalling Java and Adobe flash. Download, install and run cccleaner. use the default setting. Then reinstall adobe flash.

-I was using IE7(internet explorer) when it happens but now is using IE8.
-Tried Firefox and still the same problem.
-I've uninstall Adobe Flash player & Java and reinstall them, still doesn't work.
-Security setting was never touched, medium level.
-I've reset all my internet settings to Default, still doesn't work.

I just tried system restore for Adobe Flash and Java, NOPE nothing new.

Somehow, Adobe Flash Player CANNOT be installed in my computer even though when I try it saids install completed.

hmmm, something sounds fishy. Download malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org and run it.

don't run multiple spyware/virus programs at the same time, that can cause tons of issues when programs try to attack each other, and those programs will do that. If your norton is an internet security version (or similar) that includes spyware, get rid of ad aware and spybot, and use just norton. If it doesn't have spyware capabilities, keep only one spyware program, one will work better than multiple.

For your problems with java and flash, have you tried using an approved removal tool instead of just uninstalling? there can be traces of programs left behind that effectively do nothing but screw up reinstalls. Try a removal tool, and manually go through your program files directory and make sure there are no traces of either program in there, then try reinstalling again.

If that doesn't work and you have all your data backed up, the easiest solution would be to do a full system restore, not just a recovery point. I don't know what you have on your computer, how valuable the data is etc, so i don't know if that will be the best option, but certainly an easy one.

A previous person said to use Ccleaner, which is the same thing. According to your follow-up post, you haven't done this yet. It will clean up your system registry and other areas that programs like to leave an invisible footprint.

Ccleaner will never work as well as the approved removal tools that the manufacturer releases. I have seen this hundreds of times where i work. But to each his own. Ccleaner is an effective program, i have just has issues with it before, i would feel more confidant in the manufacturer released software.

Try this, it's the flash uninstaller from Adobe's site. It's different than running the uninstall from the Control panel
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Run it, reboot (this is important), then try installing flash again. This usually does the trick when Flash is in a bad state.

Running malwarebytes anti-malware is always a good idea. It's pretty much the best malware/spyware scanner there is, if you've got something, it will find it. It doesn't run in the background, so it won't interfere with anything else you've got running. Just download it and do a quick scan.
