sorry to be so urgent but i'm supposed to do something for the MIL today and she's 150 mile
round trip! so, after getting our headgasket replaced several months ago and all was fine i looked
at the overfill tank and the level was low. crawled under and saw the coolant is leaking from both
ends of the cam cover (ft cover that covers timing belt). also, i checked the oil and it was down a
quart. [it uses a little oil so i check frequently] here's where it gets tricky--i overfilled the oil several
days ago by a good 1/2 inch on the stick. i thought it would good use it up but i have been concerned.
do you think i could have blown a seal that could be causing the coolant to leak out? is there a seal
that when blown can cause the coolant AND the oil to leak out? thanks for any info, but i'm trying to
see if this cant wait until Monday when i can get it to the shop...
    jim

Only way to have coolant in the timing cover is the water pump leaking (should have been replaced with HG's so I would doubt it but...) or the upper rad hose is leaking down into the timing cover. I would check around the upper hose at the block and make sure the clamp is positioned correctly and tight. Hopefully thats all it is.

low oil and low coolant, sounds like a bad headgasket. thats the only seal that would cause low oil and low coolant is the car smoking at all?

no smoke. man, i hope that's not it! if it is it should still be under warranty.
i still need to check the hoses which i will do in the am tomorrow. if its a water
pump do they leak a pretty good while before going out totally? i really need to
go on a 150 mile trip tomorrow to my MIL's :(

yea, but is it normal that you can go 150 miles rt on a bad waterpump?
most of the oil is being burned through the tailpipe but there is a valve
cover gasket leak or something going on?
