heres a cool petition i found on NASIOC that may just make recaro seats an option for usdm sti models.. it will not only be good for the new owners but also it will be a good asset upon selling the car too!

VOTE if you love Subaru. If not you suck.

I love Subaru, but I wont vote for a feature that will likely raise the price of the car by about a grand. It's already far overpriced.

Why petition for optional items that you pay a premium for through a dealership, when you can get the seats aftermarket and install them yourself for alot less?

I want AC in the seats. If you haven't experienced that you have not lived a full life.

I don't need no stinking name brand seat.

I like Sparco too, but I'd probably call Subaru marketing/sales and whomever else had the hands in the choice of seats total idiots for picking those seats.

The Impreza 2.5i, WRX and STi are PASSENGER CARS. Passenger cars from the factory do not have fixed back race buckets in them for a reason.

For stock seats, the 02-03 RS/WRX had the best seats from Subaru so far IMHO. The 04+ seats (for me) were too wide and didn't offer great support. That being said, I'll take an adjustable Recaro or Sparco any day of the week. However, I'd rather have the ability to pick the seat I want and install it rather than have it delivered from the factory and have the price go up.

    agreed :)

i dunno, i don't like the whole idea of having the company choose for you the kind of seats that should be put in the car. If you really don't like the idea of having stock seats go to a racing company and buy their seats.

although, i have to say that dual strap seat belts are better than factory stock single strap seat belts and safer imo.

Not for everyday street driving. You're better off with a harness setup if you're on the track in a caged car with an anti submarine belt. A 4 point is less safe than a 3 point. There was a thread on Nasioc a while back about a track day where an STI driver went headon into the flag platform at Willow Creek on the back straight and the driver and passenger ended up in the footwells because they only had 4 points. I've never cared much for the cage/no cage argument with a full harness, but it can see that it'd have some merit either way.

Pure ignorance right there. Who better to choose and design the seats for a car than the company that designed the car? Agreed on the point about getting your seats aftermarket. And dual strap belts are NOT safer than single strap belts UNLESS there is a 5th point submarine belt.

no not pure ignorance right there dude. Lol im talking about cost, i wouldn't need the cost of a car to go up because they have a certain type of seat in the car. (I.E. a Recaro seat) however, what you are saying is that they design the seat themselves correct? if that was the case than hot damn give me the seat because Subaru is awesome

as for the seat belts, im saying i would rather have a dual strap over a single strap seat belt because i have been the passenger of a couple serious accidents. Compared to the single strap the dual strap hurt a crap load less

Getting pulled out of the footwell after you've been stuffed in there at a high rate of speed is going to hurt a lot more, if it hurts at all.

Again, more ignorance. Basing your decision on safety on a couple people you were riding with is foolishness. The PROVEN FACT is that a 4point lap/shoulder belt will more than likely have you crushed into the footwells of the car in an accident where you rear end someone. That is why EVERY car company sells their passenger vehicles with a 3 point harness.

Those are exactly what we're talking about. They're not safe unless they're used with an anti submarine belt.

I'm with this guy! Hell, they don't even need to be wrecked... plenty of STI/evo owners selling very nice (usdm) factory seats (with working airbags/airbag system parts) for reasonable prices.

Sorry man. They're spoken for. If you want an STI rear seat however... you know, the only GD STi rear seat with pass-thru ;)
