I have an Cannon XSi for about 1 year. It is a very nice camera, one reason I picked it was becuase it has the larger screen over the Xs. Which makes a diffrence when trying to figure out if your photo was out of focus or your shutter speed is too slow. I would stick with a DSLR, it allows you to change to diffrent lens. If you want to take some fun photos you can rent larger lens like the 400+ ones that cost 3K or more and shoot some great action photos while staying off the track. The T1 you have seems like a nice one, my Xsi dosen't shoot video, but I have other options. With the other lens for 900 seems like a pretty good deal. you might want to check out national camera exchange. If you buy a camera from them they will give you three free DSLR classes. If that is a package from cannon you may be able to get the same thing some where else. Good luck on the purchase!!!
thanks for the info , the only reason i am considering a dslr is because my wife has this thing about ..... if you pay 400 , wouldnt you want to pay more and get the best..... so i am now really torn , i think for me i would be happy with the non dslr , but she maybe right , for more $ i would never have to "want more"
The other cool thing about DSLRs is that there are lots of settings like ISO, AV, TV, f-stop things you can't change or aren't there on other cameras. Taking pictures at night with most cameras is basiclly impossible. Also with the large megapixle count it means even if you don't get "the shot" you can crop the picture down and it will still look good. If you are going to go with a DSLR for shooting HD check them out in person and check out the focus on them. This has been a big draw back with DSLRs and HD video is being able to continual focus. This is a picture I took while in Texas for thanksgiving last year:
thanks , i am going to go check some out , i think i still may go with a transition camera to learn on , like the last one i posted
canon t1i all the way... shares things with its much more expensive brother the 50d, and shoots full 1080p video.
