Found a beater and was wondering if anybody can help me figure whats wrong with it. Its a 92 Camry V6 XLE w/205k miles. Everythings decent for the price but one thing. While the car is idling at park, I turn the steering wheel to the right there's a few clunk, cllunk. While driving and turning it doesn't do this. ONLY make this sound when the car is park. Struts are worn though. Could it be the struts?

Also, while driving the front right wheel sounds like its grinding. Could it be the bearings?

Not worn struts per se, but it could be worn strut mounts, or a worn ball joint or tie rod ends that you don't hear when there's some motion happening.

There's a bunch of strut & strut mount related play and noise in my G20. Got a set of GR2s and some bushings on the way to fix that for winter.

On an old beater car, you have to expect that there's going to be suspension wear issues, and it's just somethingyou have to live with or plan on fixing. I wouldn't let it stop me from buying if the price was right.

My guess would be strut mounts, they are probably binding.

The beater will be my daily driven and will be use for going out of town, 400miles round trip. You guys think it'll be ok for going out of town? I asked the guy and he said he went to chicago once and to some place in WI twice and it didn't give him any problems but can't really trust him 100%. Anybody willing to help me look at it if I bought it?

Looks like the camry has a separate strut plate and bearing for the front. Rockauto wants about $44 for the bearing, -5% with code, add a few bucks for shipping and have them in a few days.

92 CAMRYS, they are known for broken springs, worn out strut bushings, steering racks. See them all the time.

The V6 in those is bullet proof tho. Just watch the suspension stuffs, front especially. Strut mounts and bearings are notoriously bad, as well as sway bar bushings causing clunks.

Yeah, it just sounds like the stupid crap that's always broken on any old, cheap car (if they'd kept up on everything they'd probably either be keeping the car or asking more money for it). Spend a few hundred and drive it for the next 100k miles.
